Anyone have any suggestions I am leaving on Friday early morning from N/E NJ to Greenville, SC to visit my sister in Ware Shoals... any good places close to the highway is good... I plan on stopping at Sonny's for BBQ but would like other "home style" choices - THANKS!

This will provide you with a large number of restaurant links and the comments may be useful as well. Because Greenville is a relatively easy town to find places in, the location of places near the highway won't be much of an issue once you arrive.

Yes, thank you it was very helpful and I printed out several choices for the picky and the non picky folks in my family! Much appreciated.

T'weren't nothin' ma'am  .... pleasure is all mine .. and should you wish for something quite nice and gourmet? Try 33 Liberty, top of Greenville dining gems ... my friends John and Amy Malik will knock your socks off!

Henry's Smokehouse is maybe three or so miles off the Woodruff exit. It's generally considered the best 'cue in Greenville. It's a notch below the NC top one's but very good. Sticky Fingers is probably the best of the 'cue chains and is off the same exit but a little closer to the interstate.

Henry's BTW, does have a very good spicy SC sauce.

Nobody eats at that restaurant anymore. It's always too crowded.

Greenville, capital of Upstate SC dining, should offer you a bunch of good eating opportunities. Closer to the I-85 exit and better than Henry's Smokehouse (there I said it) is Bucky's on Brushy Creek Rd. They cook their Q with pecan and apple wood along with the standard hickory...

If you are looking for something non BBQ, the Corporate Deli on East North St. serves up very tasty sandwhiches and has branched over into some fancier fair (corn meal dusted oysters, good salads) though their turkey melt on pumpernickel is still a favorite.

For dinner, GG is right on the money with 33 Liberty. Soby's, Latitudes and the Augusta Grill are nothing to blush at either. Walking down Main St. should leave you with plenty of excellent dining options (including Soby's <nouveau southern> and Latitudes <international seafood>).

The best hummus in the world is served at the Pita House on the Pleasantburg Highway and the best greek food in the world is served at Never on Sunday Coffee St.

Bucky's must be darn good because Henry's is one of the best in both Carolinas. I'll have to try it the next time I am in the area.

Well we stopped at Guru (exit 130) in Fredericksburg, VA it was VERY good, Sonny's a chain I like in greensville and other various places (stax?) were good too. Thanks for all the suggestions unfortunately there wasn't enough time or "maps" to find to get around.
