I know this isn't the usual type of question posted on here about the best 3 star in paris but I would appreciate some input if you could spare the time.

I'm on a stag do in Paris early August and am in charge of booking the restaurants for the two evenings.

There's likely to be about 10 of us. None are morons but then we are still 10 English lads which isn't the most appealing to restaranteurs.

Much as I'd like to try to steer them to a top place we can't afford it and I'd be concerned if they shouted "what the fack is this jelly rubbish?" at somewhere like pierre gagnaire.

In short i'm looking for somewhere mid level €40-50 a head or lower with wine that would accept a reasonable size male group.

Can anyone help?

I've twice booked private rooms not only so I don't get the "what the...jelly..." questions but also in order to better converse with friends. They were both under your price. The first, which admittedly is better in game season, is le Petit Colombier, in the 17th; the second, Terminus Nord, a Flo brasserie, in the 10th. Both held about 10 folks. Au Bon Acceuil in the 7th has a room with several tables that can be used for a group but has a fairly wide opening into the salon; likewise the Restaurant W at the Warwick hotel but I think it would only seat 6. My memory as always betrays me at moments like this but one of the guidebooks has a list of restos with private rooms. I simply cannot lay my hands on it now. In any case, some places will give you a good price for a set albeit elaborate menu, while others just prefer you to order from the carte.

I really think you guys should go to D'Chez Eux. I'm not joking. I clearly saw in my mind a picture of you ten beaming above the red-and-white checkered napkins and having a good time. Really. They have a website too.

Brings back memories of living in London and my English friends (1 out of three were named Cecil).

You'll have fun in Paris. It doesn't shut down early like London does. My more recent visits have been as a family man. But the club scene and late night are really cool over there sorry I can't recommend specific places anymore. I'm sure others here can though.

Michelin has a page of Restaurants avec salons particuliers. I don't know how large or small those rooms might be. There are quite a few very pricey places listed, but also a few one and two fork and spoon places scattered around Paris. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with most of them and don't see one I know and could recommend, but John's Petit Colombier is on the list for the 17th arr.

Thanks a lot for these suggestions, much appreciated.

I didn't consider the private room option either which is an excellent idea too, it will keep us out of harms way.
