I'm going to Menorca for a week and was wondering if anyone have been there recently and knew of restaurants offering decent food?

Es Molí de Foc in Mahón/Maó: some say it's the best table on the island. Good seafood. La Caraba in Sant Lluis, in the outskirts of Maó: one place for modern cuisine with touches of Asian fusion. In Ciudadela/Ciutadella, where 'caldereta de langosta' (casserole of spiny lobster) is the unavoidable local specialty, try Café Balear. In Fornells, same specialty; the old-time specialist is Es Pla.

Reviving an old thread in search of any new information...

My otorrinolaringologa has insisted that I get out of this city (that I love, but is wreaking havoc on my sinuses) and go to the beach and who am I to argue? We'll be staying on the south part of the island--near Son Bou--but will go anywhere, of course.

Any other specialties--other than the spiny lobster and the cheese--that we need to try? Also, any good bakeries?

Well, sobrasada menorquina is subtler than its counterpart from the neighbor island, sobrasada mallorquina. A more delicate flavor with the spices not playing a so major role as in the latter. Compare them while you can! But the caldereta de langosta (some say that sobrasada is also an ingredient for it), really is something elsle.

Bakery: Vallés... Costa de Sa Plaça, 19... And don't forget the pomada with gin xoriguer!!!

Some more prominent restaurants: in Fornells, Ses Salines (with a few modern touches), Es Cranc Pelut; in Cala Sant Vicenç, Cavall Bernat also adds some creativity to its seafood.

Another bump if thats ok, i'm going for 2 weeks to Cala en Porter. What are the recommendations nowadays, i think we'll be going for the mid range stuff, some good fresh fish and the like. Whats the situation with tapas on menorca, when i went to tenerife it seemed that the canarians had their own thing going on (i was in puerto), is it the same on menorca.

One really good place would be a nice too, i think i read that there was a restaurant in Mao i think.
