I am a big fan of Aussie wines, and I'm not sure I agree with you. I think in general that they just try to make the best wine they can, and it happens more often than not in a style that appeals to a lot of people. Often huge in your face, fruit driven, with long finish, texture, character, depth and intrigue. Its not just California they try to compete with. I am just glad that there a lot of Aussie wines available here in California. Some are still at reasonable prices, though not as reasonable as they once were. :biggrin:
