Calling all/some NYC-based cocktail geeks! [PLAN]

Here's my deal: I spend a good chunk of my waking hours thinking about and/or crafting homemade ingredients and libations. While most of my friends and family and more than willing to reap the benefits of my labors, they are probably good and sick of hearing me yammer on about the new bottle of Bols Genever that I've been experimenting with or the awesome raspberry mint shrub recipe I recently concocted. In the hopes of maintaining those relationships and building new connections, I am unleashing my concept of the NYC cocktail co-op on the world. What I foresee (and this is subject to change at the whim of the participants) is something akin to Thursday Drink Night or Mixology Monday, except all the festivities would take place on a face to face basis, thereby allowing all involved to taste the fruits of others efforts, build a sense of community amongst enthusiasts, and exponentially increase our access to information and ingredients. Like TDN and MxMo, these gatherings might be thematic or ingredient-centric, but, again, this will depend on who turns out and what they would like to see happen. As things progress, we might even organize trips to various drinking establishments and host talks by noted local cocktailians and mixologists. As the originator of this concept, I am more than willing to plan, organize and even host the initial happenings. If you're at all interested, please post something and let me know.

Drink on!

I'm in Boston, but I hosted a "liquor swap," where like-minded enthusiasts met at someone's house and exchanged small amounts of ingredients. These tended to be things that you'd want a small amount of, but that only comes in a big bottle or is expensive. Creme de Violette is a good example. Or Amer Picon, for the lucky. It was a big success. Next time, I think it will be more social, with some cocktail making / smacktalk during/after.

I think you get-together idea is great and am interested in following how it works. I would be interested in being involved in the Boston area.

So...nearly 2 years have passed since I posted my original missive. There were some responses, but unfortunately I had over-committed myself activities-wise at the time and couldn't make any meetings happen. Now I'm back and very ready to make this a reality! Please reach out if you'd like to assist me towards that end.
