There is an interesting article in October (03) Saveurs featuring Catherine Guerraz and her eponymous restaurant. I was not aware that she had moved from her rue Provence location. Has anyone visited her year+ old new location: 3 rue Berryer?

(Gault Millau 03 gives her a rating of 14 and a coup de coeur.)

I went to Chez Catherine for Valentines this past year. They had a set menu. I don't remember if we had choices or not. What I can tell you is that the new place is beautiful! Her food is fabulous and her husbands wines wonderful. I will be going there again in a few weeks.

I have been doing some housekeeping on the Forum and came across this very old topic but thought I should reply even though I'm a lot of days late and quite a few dollars short. CC was one of my very favorite places in Paris for several years in the old Rue de Provence locale. It was perfect for lunch before catching the bus to CdeG for planes to other parts on the continent. I loved her genuine bistro food, her husband's wine and her prices.

When she moved, however, I sensed a shift and even though I went only twice, the kitchen and front room staff had doubled as had the covers, the food was no longer so bourgeois and the prices reflected the upscaling. I was and am sad by this change. It was truly a gem in the rough that unfortunately was now a Hope diamond.

Any recent experiences for Chez Catherine?

Not me. After she moved - I ate there twice and think it's just too 8th for me. I loved the old Rue de Provence location - incl. the wine, her husband, staff, menu and customers. A great disappointment for me. The old CC was the place to eat and send others to. To digress a bit, this is why I worry about Daniel Rose moving from Spring to a bigger space; the loss of the personal touch, one-to-one contact, hands-on food, etc. I know - I'm a elephant, but I regretted Eric Frechon's moving downtown too and surely will mourn Jean Chauvel's departure toward the center. But they all deserve every sou/cent they make. A French teacher I had 2 decades ago accused me of wanting to preserve Paris as a museum - I pled/pleaded and still plead guilty.
