Osteria Mozza

Did anyone else get up bright and early yesterday to secure a reservation? I'll be there at 8pm on the 27th. It's going to be my end of bar exam celebratory dinner, and hopefully since they'll have been open for a couple of weeks, most of the to be expected service kinks will be worked out.

Congratulations on getting a reservation at Osteria Mozza. How much did it cost you, millions?? (double-meaning implied)  :raz:  :raz:

Have you already tried Pizzeria Mozza? Please give a full report, perhaps a few photos, after your dinner.

Well, the reservation didn't cost me anything more than the price of a couple of anytime minutes. Although I understand some enterprising folks have put their early reservations up on craigslist. Perhaps I should test the ebay market.

I have not been to Pizzeria Mozza yet; I've been out of LA since last summer before it opened. My girlfriend and I had been planning to drive down to LA from the Bay Area the day following the bar exam to look for places to live and have a celebratory dinner. We were going to try Cut, but I saw on Eater LA that OM was accepting reservations, and was lucky enough to score one on the day we had in mind.

I will definitely give a report, and see if I can't snap some photos.

Tuesday night, I walked in to Osteria Mozza and was seated at the Mozzarella Bar, where the action is at.

The meal was very good. I was very impressed with Roasted pork Arista. No, it was not undercooked. It was quite flavorful.

A man to my left at the Mozzarella Bar and I had a conversation, as he was eating his roasted octopus appetizer. He offered me a bite. The octopus tasted so tender, not rubbery at all. I'll have to order that the next time.

millions, you are not off the hook. I still want to see your photos you'll be taking at Osteria Mozza, okay??!!

nice, rjwong...both the "score" and the review...my mouth is watering. gotta get over there soon, although i think the pizzeria will be calling me...do they have the budino at the osteria? (i crave it.) and, are they making mozzarella? i know there are a couple places in the bay area that are doing so, in a demonstration kitchen setting, and as i've been dabbling with cheesemaking recently, that would be so fun for me to watch, while enjoying some wine and apps!
