We were there recently. They haven't received their liquor license yet so BYO. Food was good enough that we would certainly try this restauant again. We especially liked the swordfish special and octopus salad. Desserts are made in house and there is one that is made with a thinnly sliced pound cake, whipped cream and berries that was scrumptious.

I was at Table 8 for lunch a few weeks ago. Call and check to see if they have changed their hours.
Trattoria Fresco in Caldwell is open for lunch also.

When we were in Portland OR we dined at a restaurant called Family Supper that had started out as an underground dining restaurant. You could only get a reservation by invitation. But you asked about "dining groups" also and if you find any I certainly would be interested.

You forgot to post my entree. I had a double serving of an appetizer: sake marinated salmon with tapioca , cucumbers and wasabi. I had this dish last week and loved it so much that I ordered it again.
Ditto to the above comments. The dinner was extraordinary. Great food, wines and dining companions all came together for a truly epicurean feast.

For a more initimate/boutique shopping experience and eschewing big brand vineyards, try Amanti Vino in Montclair where the owner sells only wines that she has personally tasted and approved of.

Nice place, and their yellow lab retriever is quite playful
The Church Street garage is free till Dec. 31 and only for the first four hours. Meters in Montclair will be free after Dec 12 to ? Probably till Christmas.
Bought some very interesting inexpensive wines at Amanti Vino.

I thought the steaks at Frankie and Johnney's were very good but couldn't stand the noise or the smoke. Yes, we were in the non-smoking section and it was smokey.
