I think the responsibility of a hotel restaurant can be daunting. you need to be all things at all times. Perhaps when we experienced such bad service, they were in the middle of a room service rush. I am sure the hotel was full, for the price ($189.00 for a suite) it's the best place in town. My geuss is that some of the staff at breakfast on a Saturday may not be your first team. Kind of like the practice squad.

If I came across as in-hospitable I apologise, just thought it was a little too glowing. I would have thought that way even if I loved the place.

One of the reasons it gets no play is it is kind of off the beaten path. Also La Regalade seems to take most of the french business in West Vancouver. I hear both are excellent but I have been to niether. Ouest is now West, just a name change, still the best food in town or at worst tied with Lumiere for that honour. For great deals on multi course tasting meals 3 places come to mind. Parkside on Haro, Cru and a relatively new place Fiction. If you want French though your best bet would be one of the 2 places in West Vancouver. BTW everyone in Vancouver serves fish and seafood but only one place seems to specialize in original seafood preperations and that is C. I leave comment on C to others because I have yet to try the place.

Great reply Mr Lucky. I hope you post many a time in the future. My possee (2 couples of over fed Vancouverites) spent the labour day weekend in the Andra. We found ourselves in Lola daily. I enjoyed drinking and eating at the bar, however the experience we had in Lola's for breakfast was unbelievably bad. It probably seemd worse due to our 7 bottles of wine (over the course of the day) hangover. BTW the rooms in the Andra are very cozy.

Seriously Keith they have a Pork dish on a puree of white beans. His Feenieness calls it Pork and Beans. It's one of the best things I've ever eaten. Did you notice the cheapest Italian Red wine was like $143.00.

Borgo Salcetino 1999 Chianti Classico Deep red more like a Brunello or Rosso. Meaty and the aroma of the lees. Very serious nose. Slight plumand tobacco, quite closed. Drying finish. 10 seconds + If I was served this blind I would geuss that it was a riserva or one of the more serious sangiovese wines like Rosso or Brunello di Montalcino. Very serious sangiovese. Coop Rating 83 out of 92.5. Or on the sliding Maple Ridge scale 3 mullets out of 4. I keep editing this as I sip at it.

Went last night. had a power failure in the Ridge. I have mixed opinions. The best thing was our waiter, he did about ten tables, seemlessly by himself. The pasta sauces were dodgy. I want to go back when they do Porketta.

Actually most bahn mi are toasted, after they are wrapped in paper and tied together by an elastic band. The mayo at Le Do is very wierd. Try not to look at it while you are eating. If you are already at Pho Thy thier subs are pretty good.

Mr. Lucky. You may not want to come off so positive about a place for your first post. Give up 20 years of vegetarianism to try the meat dishes? Some may ask the question "Do you work in the front of the house or in the kitchen?"

I understand that it's hard to keep the Doritos in stock.

At Lumiere did you have the Pork and Beans?

Across the street from Courtnall's (The Doghouse). This place is no dump. Millions spent on leaseholds in my opinion. Target market? Well healed BC Lions fans?

I couldn't believe it. A brand new stand alone steakhouse next to BC Place. Can this place survive. There seems to be no talk or advertising. For months we have talked about Chambar and Go Fish. Not so much as a word about this place. I'm setting the over/under at 8 months. Any takers? Keep in mind I didn't think Gotham would survive.

Years ago Nick bought a boat from the company I was working for, he was more then gracious. He let us use his boat for brochure photos etc. Just thought I would mention he didn't seem like a "made" man to me. Never had the urge to eat there though.

At the risk of being called a shill for the place, the best Pho for me is at Kim Phung on Victoria between 42nd and 43rd. Also nice are Ben Do on Kingsway and Le Do on Hastings. Personally I think Pho Hoang is over rated.

Had a terrible breakfast there on Labour Day Saturday. Took 35 minutes to cook our food. We were the only people in the place. The service was brutal and all of our food was overcooked and cold. As soon as our order went into the kitchen I noticed one of the four staff preparing my wife's omlet then a short thirty minutes later it arrived. Nice.

They may be using the Revenue Canada way of calculating income. You made an unreported sale for $30, it took 1 minute. There are 60 minutes in an hour so thats $1,800.00 an hour.

I think Cafe Campagne is a good place. They just seem out of control on sunny Sundays.

Robson?Bute 2.1 million. What are you talking about JM?

Wine X rocks dude. I found it to be like liking a toilet seat at a Washington state rest area.

Arne did you get my PM. I want to make sure you know I'm in. When can we pay? I think it's probably a good idea to front the cash that way we know who is really in. I'm sure we could pay the restaurant or something like that.

Is Chambar open? May go next week if it is.

Just want to ask if anyone knows any "buzz" on this place. It seems like a great idea. If your place is struggling why not suplement the take by selling illegal drugs. What's next hookers working at the Fresgo Inn? Hang on that already happened. Only in BC can you have a Mayor who turns a blind eye to a coffee establishment that sells the chronic.

We did have a great lunch at Le Pichet.

The Good Hotel Andra: Great Boutique hotel, nice rooms, great bed. Food at The Harvest Vine: As always what we got was very good. Bar at Lola: Fun place to drink and decent appetizers. Wine at Assaggio: I would order everything on the list. Birds at Jefferson Park: One had a poop in my friends golf bag. The Bad Wretched Breakfast at Lola: Only customers in the place Saturday morning. Took about 35 minutes to cook our food. All the eggs were hard as a rock and everything was cold. Had to search for our waiter to get coffee, not good. Service at The Harvest Vine: Fernando the manager was very good but everyone else the was lost. Food was ordered and never came, a bottle of Clos Magador disappeared, waits were long between visits by our waiter. The bill was impossible to read. I beleive it was in Spanish, maybe... Cold food at Cafe Campagne: Food was good but cold on Sunday morning. Dull Food at Assaggio: I knew we should of gone to Union. We did have great time though. Will be back near christmas.
