  1. If you get the chance you should definitely check out Mirbeau - a spa in Skaneateles. The food is really top notch - high end without being chi-chi and vapid as high end sometimes can be. They have a great, young chef named Ed Moro - very nice guy. The spa is very beautiful as well...
  2. To APPS 411: I love River St. - George is an animal and he visits us often which we appreciate... And phaelon 56: This totally bums me out because I work at Dinosaur BBQ and we work our hearts out to give excellent food, service, etc... If I could persuade you to come back email me and I'll make sure you have a better experience, but thanks for being honest - it keeps us honest. PS. I can't figure out how to work quotes... sorry
  3. Hey what about Nigella Lawson - I really like her, don't know if what she cooks works (I don't really cook, I just eat). But it always looks easy, good, she seems like she's got balls, not fat phobic, and I dig that she eats a lot of food in her pj's while watching TV. My kinda chick. Martha Stewart kind of creeps me out. I've never heard somebody talk so in depth about a given subject without a hint of passion in her voice. But she's like a train wreck; sometimes I just can't turn my eyes away...
  4. More importantly - how was Helmet?
  5. Casamento's is one of the best places I've ever had oysters (Ugelsich's is good, too, and they are really nice people) - plus you get a bonus if you have to use the bathroom because you have to go through the kitchen - no deep fryers, they just fry them in big pots on the stove. I've eaten at Delmonico's - great weird, creepy atmosphere, decent steak, they crucified the side of broccoli. My dream meal is breakfast at Camelia Grill (early, early before lines) for a cheesburger with onions, chocolate milk shake, and pecan waffle. What about Jacques Imo - it's in the garden district and food is really good, very fresh and not so crazy heavy. I thought Commander's Palace did a better job with brunch than with dinner, although the second time we went they overcooked by eggs benedict - they were definitely in the weeds...
  6. Is Doc Holliday's still there on Ave. A and 10th or 11th, right across from the park? Used to be very competitive with Coyote Ugly (before the movie). I used to work there, but instead of pouring shots into customer's mouths I would spit them into their mouths (not forcefully - never spilled a drop!). There was nothing but country on the jukebox, a garbage can full of PBR in a can on ice, and our security was a poetry writing skinhead named Frenchie (he had "Frenchie" tattooed across his forehead) who would sometimes fall asleep drunk at the bar while he was working. At the end of the shift he would crawl under the pool table where he had a cot that he slept in. Some of the best times in my life... now I work at a BBQ joint in Syracuse, NY - not a dive, exactly, but still a great place. Also, what about a place called Sophie's (?) on 5th between B and C - very dark and everything was $2.00.
