  1. A couple of friends have recently been to Winteringham Fields and thought it was worthy of a star. I haven't been there for years and was somewhat unimpressed by their recent appearence on the Gordon R best restaurant show but it could be one to watch.
  2. I hadn't realised Martin Blunos had started cooking again. He's one of my favourite chefs - his boiled egg and soilders is a work of art. Can't wait to try the new venue.
  3. Must be time for Sat Bains to receive an extra star?
  4. Can't agree more about Arbutus (and also thier sister restaurant Wild Honey) excellent food and great VFM. It's a shame about the third offering - Les Deux Salons. Food was no where near up to the same standards, service was really poor and to make matters worse a constructive email with a few complaints went unanswered. If you get the chanve visit Arbutus and Wild Honey but avoid Les Deux Salons.
  5. I'll be visiting LV in Feb for 5 nights and am looking for some suggestions of places to eat. I've been before (last time for three nights) and ate in Nob Hill, L'Attiler JR and Aureole. This time I'm beng taken to Aria and Michael Mina any other suggestions would be welcome. They don't have to be on the Strip although I'm staying there. I live in London and visit Europe regularly so not that bothered about high end french restaurants. Anything different than looking through the obvious list would be welocme. Thanks.
  6. I'm a huge fan of Simpsons having dined there on 20+ occassions when staying in Birmingham. It's a really good 1 Star establishment although I don't think it has quite enough to make that coverted 2nd star. Service can sometimes feel the pressure of a full dining room but well worth a visit.
  7. Thanks for all these suggestions, will 'avoid' One if by Land and River Cafe. We've got 5 nights so will try a few of the suggestions. I have lots of amazing reports about Per Se although at $275 + wine per head it puts it at the most expensive meal I will have ever eaten (even more than the Fat Duck which is absolutely amazing).
  8. I'm looking for a good restaurant to go to for a 'special' meal. We will be visting NYC in April. My partner is a vegetarian so it should usually have a couple of veggie dishes for each course. Quality of food is important as is location etc. I was thinking of the River Cafe. Other places suggested to me are One if by land two if by sea or Blue Hill views on these and all other suggestions welcome! Thanks.
