  1. Hello All, I am currently studying in Madrid, Spain and I have purchased a chef's knife while over here. I am flying back to the states with British Airways, connecting in London, then to Miami. Does anyone know the "real" restrictions with checking cutlery, in this case a 12" Chef's knife, into checked baggage? The airline doesn't give much information on this topic on their website. Looking for experienced chef/travelers responses, Thank you.
  2. I think both, Michael Symon and Robert Irvine, appeal to the television consumer. Michael Symon is able to teach correct cooking techniques and unique recipes, as Robert Irvine is able to muse and shmooze with the crowd and guests. Maybe FN should do a Mission Impossible with both Irvine and Symon, - Symon the culinary genius and Irvine the Culinary mascot. Personally, I like them both and would like to continue watching them. Also, does anybody know the real story to Irvine? I always knew he was kind of awkward in the kitchen.
  3. Barcelona Degusta --A food and wine festival including cooking demonstrations, original launches, traditional cuisine, culinary bookshop, sensory tasting workshops and fun culinary shows, is to be held 6-9 March 2009 at the Fira Barcelona's Montjuïc venue (Plaza de España, Barcelona, Spain). I personally am going to this festival. It is supposed to be one of the best food and wine festivals in Spain featuring restaurant owners, culinary personalities, and famous chefs from all over the world. Check it out at www.barcelonadegusta.com. (If you can't read Spanish, don't worry, there is an English link you can click in the top right corner.) Enjoy!
