  1. Careful John, you'll become addicted like the rest of us
  2. I thought The Nut Tree was great and here is the report from the visit. Stonking good value is the surprise menu, best value in the land. We are overdue a visit to The Goose, so if you beat us to it be good to read your review. Judy is correct The Nut Tree is difficult to get to but well worth the effort.
  3. Again, take a look at Kitchen W8 another of our weekend visits, stunning food, great service, VALUE FOR MONEY. Sorry to shout. Wake up you Rip Off Merchants http://www.kitchenw8.com/ (Report soon)
  4. I could not agree more, get a grip,as punters we do understand profit margins but hey there is only so much money to go around. My recommend is Galvin La Chapelle, had a super meal over the weekend (will write it up soon), top quality and not rip off money. http://www.galvinrestaurants.com/section.php/91/1/valentine_s_day
  5. I can confirm that Glyn Purnell is appearing again, however he is not cooking this time, he is one of the mentors. Can't get any information yet about the chefs, as I understand the contracts have a clause forbidding disclosure. Watch this space
  6. I heard a whisper Paul Kitching (21212) was representing the North East with perhaps also Kenny Atkinson and a n other. A call to Paul confirmed that he had "politely turned down Matthew Fort" as it was not for him. Shame that. Kenny returned my call only to say that he could not give me any personal info as no contracts for any of the N East chefs had (as far as he knew) been confirmed. The format is indeed three chefs voted down to two after five days. Nigel Haworth is rumoured to be one of the mentors Catch up with Kenny at his new place http://www.caterersearch.com/Articles/2009/11/10/330841/michelin-starred-chef-kenny-atkinson-to-move-to-rockliffe-hall-next.html
  7. As its not my locale, others on here will give you a better idea. I have had a meal at the River Restaurant at The Lowry and enjoyed it, and if your into footie some of the Man U players dine their. (Ryan Giggs was at the table next to us.) You may find this link very helpful for reviews as they have their fingers on the pulse of Manchester. http://www.manchesterconfidential.com/index.asp?Sessionx=IaqiNwB6IHqiNwEjNwEiIHqi
  8. Are you looking for classic English/French? or will Thai or Chinese be of interest? If you would consider Thai, I think Chaophraya is excellent and decent value. For Chinese, well, Red Chilli is a must, and I highly rate Red N Hot also thanks David. i'm looking for something english/french in cuisine. will have to try Red Chilli when i get the time. on a completly different subject. have you eaten at Paul Kitchings restaurant yet? cheers Paul. I'm assuming you mean 21212? Hoping you will be pleased to read not only mine but quite a few other reports on this link Enjoy
  9. Do you dine at any of the restaurants? Some chefs are really helpful to their customers, I would be tempted to make a phone call or two. Worst they can say is no

  11. If this is what you desire, I feel fairly certain that they will not be available. http://www.foodreference.com/html/art-rock-shrimp-7806.html I may be wrong though, Good luck.
  12. He is indeed, great pedigree, and eighty nine hours a week smacks of obsessive dedication http://www.london-eating.co.uk/newsletter/2008/june/pont%20de%20la%20tour.asp
  13. Thanks Marc, Good to see some fresh faces on their.Hope Lisa does well for the laydees. I know your a fan of Plas Bodegroes good to see Aled Williams in the flesh so to speak. Rumour has it you were offered a spot? And you turned it down????
  14. Anybody have a line up for this years competition yet? Its rumoured Lisa Allen (Northcote Manor) is among the chefs. Lisa cooked Nigels 2009 GBM dishes for us last year and we had a really good chat with her after the meal. She is really sweet and totally unassuming.Hope she is appearing. We enjoyed our chat that much I drove off without paying Being well on our way home I pulled in to apologise and paid by credit card. Must be an age thing.
  15. Really surprised Corrigans did not get one, it seems so very Michelin. Great food, excellent service, prime site,Michelin history. Where did it go wrong?
  16. I'm a bit gutted for Simon Rogan at L'Enclume our meal last year was two star and many people on here would agree. He should have another. Chef tip Sat Bains, must be a bit disappointed not to have moved forward for all of his hard work this year.
  17. A very special mention to the owners/management at The Goose Britwell Salome who superbly have identified special talent in Matthew Tomkinson, Mike North, and now extremely young and talented Ryan Simpson. All of whom now have achieved Michelin stardom at said establishment. And don't even ask (or think of it) I have no connection whatsoever, I am just amazed at the foresight.
  18. Chuffed to bits for the new additions, especially, Texture,, 21212, Harwood Arms, Galvin at Windows, etc, etc. Of special mention has to go to Wales, boyo, FOUR Michelin Stars now, they will be singing in the valleys very loudly today. Congratulations, Shaun Hill back to where you belong. Sadly no Anthonys No Abode, No Church Green, oh dear.
  19. Some fantastic additions, bet there will be some happy smiley people (and some not) out there now
  20. Here you go, Not had time to have a good look yet. http://servicesv2.webmichelin.com/frontnews/servlet/GetElement?elementCode=56905
  21. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601040&sid=a8qbvaCEOcM4 I did say we would hear on here first did I not
  22. The Devonshire Arms has looked appealing for sometime now, all the more reason for me to make a bit more effort to dine their. I could not agree more regarding Winner's reviews, they really are pathetic and woefully out of touch.
  23. It may well be of interest to foodies living in and around Manchester that the Alderley Restaurant, in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, has just been awarded three rosettes by the AA ranking it alongside Paul Kitching's 21212 and some other very highly rated places. Its a very welcome addition from my point of view as its easily driveable for us and indeed we were fairly regular visitors during the Ninetees when David Beckham lived just down the road. Good to see chef Chris Holland is getting some recognition. Glad to see Loves Restaurant in their too, thats very quick as they have only recently opened. http://www.caterersearch.com/Articles/2010/01/14/331709/aa-guide-announces-latest-additions-to-restaurant-awards.html
