  2. I'm jealous of you all too, I have to do these things by myself because my friends are as adventurous.
  3. I guess I do need to go back there after my okay time before. Two things I must remember: don't go alone and don't get the tasting menu.
  4. What immediately comes to mind is a changed course at PerSe. I was there for my 3rd time for lunch and went with 3 other people. Instead of rabbit, our server came over and asked if we would like to be served a Roast Chicken. The ultimate test on a chef! They brought out the whole bird (truffled stuffed!) out in its pot with the vegetables that were cooked with it. I begged for a taste of the juice. No wine ever tasted better. Then it was whisked back to the kitchen to be cut up (white meat only) and served with cinnamon scented prune and swiss chard puree. Simple Can Be The Best.

    The two times (the last over a year ago) I've been at Daniel I've felt that I should be lucky to be there. Every time I go to PerSe the staff makes me feel they're lucky to serve little nobody me.

    I had to admit I felt a little jealous too when I read about it. But this last experience in December was quite magical in its own way so I certainly can't complain. More later.

    I went last night and had the Foie Micuit (homemade foie gras terrine) and the Kroketas (crispy creamy croquettes) which were good. Then the Arraultza (sofrito, palacios chorizo, quail egg) and the Bocata (warm sandwich of unsmoked bacon, melted cheese) sandwiches came out which were both wonderful--the chorizo a great combo of slightly sweet and salty and the bacon with the Bocata was yummy. I should have stopped then but was feeling still a little peckish and got the Gambak (flash fried head-on shrimp) and the Txangurra (crabmeat gratin). They were good although the battered shrimp were still shelled, they were quite a battle. I agree with Bryan that things just kept coming out all at once from the attentive staff. While they won't replace the Uni Panini in my heart from El Quinto Pino, those 2 sandwiches will bring me back there again.
  10. There's no choice in seating; when I went there for lunch they shifted me 3 TIMES before things started. It doesn't really matter where you sit.

    I agree, the last time I went with a friend who can't drink. They came up with a wonderful set of non-alcoholic drinks including the best non-alcoholic mojito I ever tasted!

    A friend went the first day and wrote me: I'm going Thursday. It will do well regardless--it's kinda shocking how 9th Ave is more restauranty than ever.
  19. I went there the same day I went to Ko. That slice was Heaven. Maybe people don't want to write about it so that it will take even MORE time to get a slice.
  20. Out of curiousity, what time were you there? Early, middle or late?
