  1. They were great hot dogs - they had mustard, chopped onions, tomato wedges, and a sour pickle spear. I think der Weinerschnitzel has something similar.
  2. I'm going there this Saturday for my maiden voyage. Looking forward to it. I hear that reservations are easier to come by if one just goes to the restaurant at 9:30 AM two months in advance. This might be an interesting job to take on.
  3. Forgot to prick potatoes before I put them in the oven to bake - so when I forked one to see if it was soft, it exploded all over the oven, me, the floor, etc. Great thread.

    Opus One

I have a few cases of Opus that I'll probably leave to my children (used to work at RMW). Good to hear that the 1994 is drinking OK as that was the last vintage I received as a gift - also have 1982 and some other assorted vintages in beween.
  5. There was an article in yesterday's "San Francisco Chronicle" Travel section on dining in Venice. Here's the link: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?.../22/TR14291.DTL I'll be in Venice in late October for a few days and hope to head to one or more of the bacari.
  6. I've heard of a Sunday brunch buffet at Ballys in LV; the price is over $50 per person with champagne (recently Mumms Cordon Rouge but it changes), Maine lobster, and just about anything you can think of at various stations. Maybe I'd be interested if I was younger and could still put away tons of food, but seems rather gluttonous. One review I read was written by somebody who had had 4 whole lobsters which seems a little over the top.
