  1. I dunno, but I wish they'd release seasons 1 and 2 on something other than iTunes or DVDs that are $10 for two eps. The first is annoying because I can only watch it on my slow-ass laptop or my iPod, and I just plain can't afford the second. (If I could, I would, believe me.) Travel Channel, are you listening? Eh. Prolly not. If they were listening to me, there'd be an all-Bourdain, all the time channel by now. ← There is this from amazon it's four disc box set. Amazon.com: No Reservations (4pc): DVD: Anthony Bourdain http://www.amazon.com/No-Reservations-4pc-...6?ie=UTF8&s=dvd ← Cool, thanks!
  2. Now, that's not fair at all. Besides, the Hawthorne Fred Meyer is much better - it's two-story!
  3. Eh, I've been in Portland about 14 years and I thought it was great. He only had half of a one-hour show for us, and he works for the Travel Channel, not the Portland Chamber of Commerce.
  4. Apropos of nothing, did Padma look seriously stoned or drunk to anyone else this time around? The way she picked her plate up and was all staring at it from eye level was bizarre.
  5. The mid-80s is when I first recall the appearance of mozzarella sticks. mmm.
  6. They absolutely did. Just like they did to Cliff the week before.
  7. LOL For me it's kind of the opposite effect. I've been a picky eater most of my life, but I'm trying to change. Every time I start having a picky impulse, I think, "Well, God, if Tony can eat a warthog anus, I can try the funny-looking mushroom."
  8. My God, the whining tonight! Seriously, that crap at the end was nothing more than tattling "He wasn't nice to me!" I work with preschool-thru-elementary aged kids, so I know me some tattling when I see it. "He's been cheating all along!" Really? Then why didn't you say something before now? Where's your proof? If you have proof of cheating, then say so. Otherwise, shut up. And for God's sake, Elia, stop talking about how you were Marcel's only friend when you've been badmouthing him as much as everyone else. Also, cut it out with the "Some people" routine. When there's only four of you, and three of you don't like the other guy, it's pretty obvious who you mean. At least have the stones to own your tattling. Even my littlest kids will at least name names.
  9. I thought that had come up. So then, the question becomes, did he drink that night, or was he just acting the fool?
  10. True, but he drank enough to make all that stuff that went down seem like a good idea. Mind you, I'm diabetic and I get tipsy on occasion, but then again, I'm not bringing up my diabetes to excuse why I can't cook a dessert. (My excuse for that is that I'm lazy. )
  11. Too bad they can't edit the Internetz.
  12. Flavored Seltzers! I remember working in the kitchen of the Hospitality House at Busch Gardens and lifting several bottles of Colaberry flavored Zeltzer Seltzer from the walk-in every night.

  14. Put a little EVOO on it and that's good eatin', man.
  15. Wow, that puts a whole different face on everything, doesn't it? I disagree that Marcel milked this. He seemed to be pretty quiet about it, just from what we saw. And while I don't think Cliff should be charged with anything, I do think what he did was not only out of line on the everyday level, but not the kind of behavior anyone should have been displaying at this late stage in the competition.
  16. Right??? I don't know how he managed to miss Stumptown Roasters, for instance.
  17. I really enjoyed this ep - one of the teachers at my son's school was from Ghana (he left recently to focus on the school he wants to open back home.)
  18. Aroo? Which one? This was an awesome show. He made my quirky little town look wonderful, which it is, of course. Loved the serial killer reference, too. ← http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showto...dpost&p=1341386 ← Awesome! If that was Ling with the redred hair, she are very cute! I loved the Otter Pop idea and the Pop Rocks. I love people who have fun with food.

  20. I agree with the FOH stuff. A chef should have a basic grasp of what goes on FOH, but expecting him to wait tables and be good at it, especially his first time at it, is like pulling your head waiter into the kitchen and expecting him to work dinner service.
  21. Well, I think it's something you have to be ready to change. I mean, my husband tried for years to get me to try new things and for the most part I was having none of it. But I sort of got to this place where I actually wanted to try new foods. That was right about the time I started getting into food-related things, and then I saw Tony in action and got inspired.
  22. Thanks! I'm having a lot of fun trying new things.
  23. Not to mention, not whining about someone "snapping" at you. He didn't snap, and that whole thing of "let's not take his dishes out?" Who did they think that would actually reflect badly on, exactly? Not Marcel, that's for sure. Grow UP.
