  1. Hi Luham!

    That sounds very special.

One suggestion for finding good Australian food lists it to look at the menus of Austraian themed restaurans? The Coolgardie Safe comes to mind (http://www.accoladewa.com.au/9.html)

Things which you might be able to find ingreidents for easily are:

    ENTREE

    - Damper (this is bush tucker style bread - needs flour, water, etc)

    MAIN

    - Grilled lamb or steamed fish (sorry am not very creative with this)

    SIDES

    - If you can get hold of some macadamia nuts, I would suggest having green beans or vegetables, with crushed macadamia nuts.

    DESSERT

    - Lamingtons (flour, cocoa, desicated coconut etc)

    - Pavlova (egg whites, canned fruit, etc)

    AFTER DINNER

    - Anzac biscuits with billy tea (Anzac biscuits involve coconut, oats, butter, nuts)

  2. Hi Luham :)

The Perth food scene is greeeeeeeeeeeeat! It's a little light on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, but the rest of the week if superb. Not sure what you're into, but here is a download of places that I'm currently loving in Perth:

    1. Jacksons, Highate: Their degustration meny is AMAZING! Best I've had in Australia, in fact. It is a bit $$ though.

    2. Duende, Leederville: Spanish tapas, funky setting, wonderous windlist. Almost as good as Movida in Melbourne.

    3. Cream, East Perth: Warm relaxed atmosphere, almost a romantic setting, very dark and mood. Tasty superb food with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences.

    4. Eminen, Nedlands: Turkish mezes, has won a lot of prizes recently, including Gourmet Traveller. Suggest it's best with a group, so you can try more things

    5. Da Brunos, Inglewood: Wonderful slow cooked Italian food

    6. Star Anise, Shenton Park: Exceptional!

    7. Ria, Leederville: Malaysian, cheap & cheerful.

    8. Tiger Lils, CBD: Morphing Asian fare with a casual pub culture. Good for the wallet too.

    9. Villa D'Este, West Perth: Exudes a European ambience

    10. Bouchon Bistro, Webley: Cuisine is exquisite and the style is true to the Parisian Bistro culture

    11. Chapter One, Subiace: Unique charm, Euro chic café culture

If there'a specific cuisine you're after, or locality, or price range, let me know and I'll try to be more specific....

Oh - I just noticed your post in another thread.... you're from overseas?..... if you're after a special native Australian dining experience in Perth, I suggest The Coolgardie Safe (http://www.accoladewa.com.au/9.html)

    Enjoy your time in WA!

  3. I'm a little bit slow to join this thread...... but as a Melbourne girl now living elswhere, I have a few places I could recommend:

    - I support the others who recommended Piadina Slowfood (CBD) Lentil as Anything (St Kilda).

    Other Cheap Eats would be:

    - KL Cafe (St Kilda - yes, this is Asian, but it's a nice change from typical Chinese and the food is very yummy)

    - Gurkha's : this is a Nepalese restaurant group. There's a "Gurkha's Express" in the city, and "Gurkha's Brasserie" on Lygon St, St Kilda.

    - Nudel Bar, Bourke St CBD. Trendy and tasty, with amazing desserts. Highly recommended, and they even do takeaway. The servings are HUGE, so the pricier dishes would serve 2 people.

  4. Two suggestions for you: Capitan Torres, Liverpool St, CBD (http://www.capitantorres.com.au/) or Spanish Terazas, CBD.

Capitan Torres makes the most beautiful paella dish for two, which is full of tasty seafood and sausage. It's my favourite thing to do for lunch in the whole of the city. However, buyer beware, if you rock up an hour ate for your booking, they may pay you back with bad food.......

Spanish Terazas is a nearby restaurant also in the Spanish Quarter of Sydney, which doesn't open for weekend lunches. I've never been, but a good friends & my husband rate the tapas there. Service gets dodgy when busy.

If you're travelling to other cities, I would highly recommend the tapas at Movida De Tapas (Melbourne) and Duende (Perth).
