Ajian on Route 22West just before you enter N. Plainfield (and just before the new mall) is my favorite - consistently fine sushi and outstanding Udon soup

I like Seabra's Marisqueira a lot, especially when I can sit at the bar - the locals tend to eat at the bar or at the tables in the bar area, and it's a more lively scene than in the back room. Either way, the fish is very good, they have decent bottles of inexpensive Portugese wine, and the staff are accomodating.

I haven't been there in a few years, but I used to love La Viet on East Front Street in Plainfield. Everything was very fresh - great spring rolls that weren't fried, wonderful soups and noodle dishes. It seemed to be family owned and was run with a friendly efficiency that made you feel welcome and comfortable.

It's on the 2nd floor, but there used to be an awning at street level with 'La Viet' on it.
