  1. Oh that sandwich, with the melty cheese and green chile on it, that was my all-time favorite at Carl's, and the pastrami burger they used to have too. Now I want roast beef darn it!
  2. Ok, Sonic pickle juice slushes, got one today and after about three sips of it, gave it to Chris. The sweet slush base was fighting with what was supposed to be pickle juice flavor, and it was horrible. It smelled like pickles but when I tried it, it tasted more like lime with an extra heavy dose of citric acid thrown in. I was so looking forward to this, but I think I will stick with my pickle juice ice pops I buy. Bleh.
  3. I am heading to Eureka in the morning and a pickle juice slushie is on my to-do list, I have been waiting not too patiently for this!
  4. If you use a giftcard, even if it only has 10.00 loaded on it, and you go checkout with 100.00 worth of stuff, the giftcard gets slid first, then the remaining 90.00 can be paid by check, cash, card, or even EBT card if you have that. A friend of mine didnt want a membership so when I go I reload a couple bucks on hers and that way she can go when she wants. I spend about 300.00 a month there for the two of us.
  5. No pictures tonight, we had a Big Mac in a bowl, all properly lowcarb and high protein. Then, fresh watermelon sticks and an iced brownie. Was good to not have to cook much in this horrible heat and humidity.
  6. Well, dinner is nowhere near the caliber of what I see here, but Chris and I enjoyed it. Dinner tonight - not sure if it is a Spanish tortilla or a frittata so I shall call it a Torttata! Shredded Gruyere, red potatoes, baby bella mushrooms, all done in my Instant Pot! Very tender fluffy egg, Chris kept muttering "mmmm...wow...omg...mmmm" the whole time he was eating lol.
  7. I got some at Costco, a bag of five nice ones were just under 10 bucks. Worth it when you are a California transplant in Kansas and craving avocado.
  8. Chicken breast and mushrooms in a garlic parmesan cream sauce done in the Instant Pot, over rice, salad on the side, no picture though.

    Burger King

Our BK must not have air scrubbers, you can stand outside and smell the broiling going on. It is also directly across from our Hostess/Dolly Madison plant so while smelling burgers, you also get the smell of bread and cupcakes and Twinkies baking. I think I gain weight every time I am stopped there at the traffic light.
  10. Chris and I have never had Indian food before, besides getting naan bread a few times at the store. So, with my trusty Instant Pot, I tried a recipe for Butter Chicken with Basmati rice, and I have to say, it was plate-licking good! Served with a salad and warm garlic naan bread, I think we are hooked and I cant wait to try some other recipes!
  11. Spent most of my afternoon making burritos for the freezer for Chris's lunch, so anything complicated for dinner was out of the question. Made him a steak sandwich with peppers and onions and cheese, wrapped and warmed in the oven since he was working late and I had a Bacon Buttermilk Pancake English muffin with some tea because I just wasnt in the mood for food. Muffin is very tasty, might get more for the freezer!
  12. Spinach salad with ham, egg, mozzarella cheese and homemade bacon dressing, with dinner rolls on the side.
  13. I found an Instant Pot glass lid for my DUO tonight on Amazon for 1.11 and free shipping. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop but if it does, at least I am only out 1.11!
  14. Instant Pot chicken congee, great stuff when you feel like crap. Just cant seem to shake this yuck I have, sticking to disposable tableware for me and bathing in hand sanitizer trying to prevent Chris from catching it. At least the congee was good!
  15. Honey Shrimp and scallion garlic rice topped with furikake, eggrolls on the side. Was supposed to be a nice dinner, but thanks to the pipe that let loose under the house and flooded my breezeway I will not have water till Monday. So the fine china it is!
  16. Excuse my bad camera photos, can never get them the way I want. I have been down with the flu, today is really the first time I have felt like doing dinner. Poor Chris has been fending for himself, and by now is sick of hot dogs lol. So, tonight was Havarti grilled cheese on light rye, a beautiful perfect avocado from Costco, deviled eggs, green olives, and some tomato basil soup, all served on the fine china!
  17. I am supposed to take 20-30 minutes to eat a meal, chewing properly, blah blah blah, but if I eat that slow, everything is cold! I inherited all of my grandmothers little 3-tine forks and that is exclusively what I use, if I am not using these.
  18. I got them about 8 years ago at a Fresh & Easy in Cali. They were perfect for portion control then, and are still now, since I can only eat maybe a half cup of food at a time since my bypass. I saw some at Walmart the other day so will probably pick them up and replenish my supply!

    Aldi

We had the Appleton Farms Pork Belly that was in Hoisin sauce. One thing I wasnt aware of is that the pork belly is fully cooked. I had thought it was raw product that was marinating in the sauce. So, 35 minutes in the oven later, sliced it up. Was an extremely large amount of fat, and hardly any meat it seemed. It was ok, but not as tender and melty as it should have been. I think I will stick with getting pork belly at Costco and do my own so it will be the way I want it. I still have the other one from Aldi in my freezer, I will eventually cook it up and chop into small pieces, and use them for ramen and topping congee.
  20. Chis had to work overtime and the company provided dinner so it was just me. Small stomach pouch, small dinner! Seasoned and steamed edamame with prosciutto and salami left over from the pig board we had the other night, Burrata cheese drizzled with a bit of balsamic, and hard-boiled egg sprinkled with furikake. I love my midget plates and forks too much probably.

    Aldi

I got one each of the pork bellies, we are having the one in hoisin sauce tonight for dinner along with grilled romaine and rice with scallions and edamame and steamed dumplings. Will post a pic of how it comes out.
  22. I see someone else goes to my favorite Asian Store! I have an IP now, so definitely need a trip there again. Regrettably, I dont think Chris will fall for me convincing him to stick his head into the Durian case to see what it smelled like lol.
  23. @quiet1 yes, that's the only catch but a pretty easy one to deal with. A member can purchase a card for someone both in store and online.
  24. @rotuts you dont have to have a card to go shop there when you want. Buy a Costco gift card and load your budget for your shopping trip and get ye to Costco! When you have a gift card, you can shop with it, do not need a membership card! You can go pretty much anytime you want then.
  25. I use an egg cooker since I am egg challenged, cant poach or soft boil one to save my life! That 's where the six minutes come from i
