  1. I think the burger at Houston's is tops. Grilled over hickory (I think). Good fries too. I miss the old GM Steakhouse on the drag. Great cheeseburger.
  2. I was going to suggest the same two places! I love Blanco (on Blanco). Very humble joint. And Rosarios is not bad.
  3. I wonder if any such authentic pork tenderloin sandwiches are available in Austin? Culver's has 'em, but I'd love to find one in a less fast foody place.
  4. It seems like the woman on the show does less and less. A saw one episode where she sits on a stool most of the time and just comments. ← I think that's the idea. She looks pretty good sitting on a stool.
  5. You might be on to something with the vegetarian thing. I too am pretty disappointed by the tex mex options, in North Austin at least. I live north, so do not get to all of the places in South Austin, of which there are many. ← Just noticed this on a site reviewing Maudie's, an Austin tex mex chain. Confirms your theory! "The only item that's a little out of the ordinary is the beans, which are 100% fat free and vegetarian."
  6. Kuby's is cool. Try their jalapeno cheese sausage--good.

  8. Best Tex-Mex, Best Enchiladas: Chuy's? Zzzzzz.
  9. For texmex, I highly recommend Avila's on Maple. Nice little place with fresh food. Just down the street is Ojeda's, much larger and not bad at all. I also recommend heading into The Cliff to Casita Lupe--all you can eat for $4.95 (if I recall). Homemade tex mex. Pix here: Casita Lupe Dallas Pix
  10. What I do, and it works great if your camera has this feature, is turn on the "rapid fire" mode (called "continuous mode" on my little Canon), turn off the flash, turn on the macro mode (if you are shooting close to the plate), and fire away. Just hold the camera as still as possible and hold the shutter button down until you get 5 or 10 shots in rapid succession. I guarantee that at least one will be sharp. I do this for all the pictures on my website (see sig or profile). Have fun! -Chris
