  1. Kike is the short name for Enrique. I think they've been in the business for 2 years or so but don't blame me... I live in Nerja, Málaga... The bar is close to both places
  2. Paseo Colon 15 bajo. The owner is Juan Mari Humada and I think he was honoured with one Michelin star some time ago (and in a different venue). We ate a beef lip ravioli (ravioli de morros) with cauliflower puree and black pudding with egg yolk and something else I cannot remember. I found it good value for money. I'll be back next January and sample more things. It's not far away from El Lagar (Calle Zabaleta), one of my favourite places in SS. The owner is Kike and they serve good pintxos (in my last visit I had an excellent Cod with Vizcaina sauce). Good selection of Spanish wines. These two places are near the Kursaal, direction Gros district. Rafa
  3. I've been in a new one called Hidalgo 54. They also have a small restaurante at the rear back...and a good selection of Spanish wines with a sensitive vfm. Pintxos were nice.
  4. Uff...What is expensive for you?.... Tragabuches is a nice choice and you'll have the opportunity to visit Ronda!!!. R
  5. Great... Tapas, American Style?. It seems interesting to me . We're still considering the possibility to hire a car... http://podolski33.blogspot.com/
  6. Muchas gracias.... Please check my previous post... We're planning to be near LA international airport. We don't have any ethnic preferences unless its good.... We also love wine and we're trying to eat in places with friendly wine matching with food. And if it's something unique to the LA area we'll be delighted to move around. How adventurous are you?.... Mucho, mucho Correct... Mr Banderas aka "El Zorro de la Malagueta" is also from this area. It's not my first time to California (I've been around a couple of times) but my previous trips were quite hectic and I was not focus on gastronomy.... 25-50$ are ok... Muchas gracias de nuevo....
  7. Sorry... I'm from a small town and not very used to huge cities like LA. We're planning to be near LAX or around Orange County.... Banderas is now here in Malaga and Melanie doesn't like to be alone with me Considering that multiculturism is a reality down there I'd prefer to taste something you can't do it outside the area.... R
  8. I will be travelling around for a couple of days in LA area. It will be delightful to sample something nice, moderate in price and with a good wine list....
  9. My memory isn't accurate either but I think I had suckling lamb.... R
  10. The same tradition can be tracked in Spain in a different day (Sunday) and not done only by Jewish but for a large pool of people. The "aperitivo" (appetizer) used to be done with your "gala" dressing (don't spoil your Sunday Shoes, niño:)))... Since the Jewish expulsion by the Catholic Kings was a long time ago, do you think there is any connection between these practices? R
  11. That one is a nice Venezuelan pick.... Have you tried the Santa Teresa Selecto?. It's being bottled with a cute shape (same style as the new Bols Creams). Rum is very popular right now here and Spain is the European gateway for it... So the portfolio is growing fast!!!
  12. I've no idea. But Montero is becoming very popular in some places in Spain... They do produce a pale rum called "pálido" too. Let me check with them... Sl2
  13. I suggest you to include Zacapa Centenario from Guatemala. The 23 years & the X.O. are great. There is also a 15 years edition which is also nice. Since my area (East coast of Malaga, Spain) has been a traditional sugar cane producer, we have had some rum production. In fact there is a small distillery called Montero (Motril, Granada) with a great Gran Reserva.
