  1. Zeemanb and I went there about 2 weeks ago. I really like the food. I doubt its traditional anything though. Its like some concoctions I make at 3 am after serious drinking. In a good way,of course. ← Well, in a strange way, Japanese izakaya is sorta that greasy after-drinking sop up food. But cheese..... with pork and rice? It may be good (after a few beers/cocktails/bottles of wine), but certainly not Japanese.
  2. Has anyone been to One Bite, lately? I *thought* there was a thread on this already, but I couldn't find one. Please merge if there is one started. I just looked at the restaurant's menu and am disconcerted by the strange and profuse use of cheese (with and in everything from pork to short-grained rice). I'd *like* to think that I've found a traditional Japenese izakaya...
  3. Am I crazy, or did Le Bernadin, until fairly recently, offer a "Market Lunch" for $35? Also, the Chef's Tasting is now at $185. How long has it been at that level. For some reason, I remember having the Chef's Tasting about three years ago for about $50 less... but I'm not certain. ← Correction, the Chef's Tasting is currently at $180, not $185.
  4. Sorry, I didn't scroll down far enough. Thanks!

  6. And, dessert is a la carte (in addition to)?
  7. I'm looking at the restaurant's lunch menu. The prix fixe is $64. I'm assuming this is for three savory courses. Am I correct? Can anyone confirm this?
  8. No, IIRC, the brunch adds a few "brunch" items, like an omelet and the house-cured gravlax. I'm not sure about the later. Can anyone confirm? I've only been there for Sunday brunch.
  9. Upon my recommendation, a couple of my friends just recently went to Perry Street for brunch. I had brunch last May and the menu seems not to have changed significantly. My brunch included: House-made Mozzerella (which is still on the menu as of last week - and highly recommended) House-cured Gravlax (also highly recommended - egg-in-a-hole meets lox on a double-cut brioche toast) Hangar Steak Tartare Snapper (with radishes and chile oil which I believe is another staple) Salmon There's also a vegetarian omelet on the current (as of last week) menu that my friend thoroughly enjoyed. There is always two dessert options. The chocolate pudding with sugared lavender seems not to have moved off the menu since I was there. The cheesecake that I had (with berries) is now a meringue cookie of some sort.
  10. Ay, not to throw a wrench in this Bouley love, but my dinner there last year (which I left up to the chef, and in which he trotted out some of his "all-time hits" (his menu doesn't change very frequently, as far as I know)) was one of the most deflating meals I've had. On the other hand, my http://www.flickr.com/photos/ulteriorepicu...57600027140960/Menu Gourmande at EMP was probably one of the best meals I have had in the recent couple of years.
  11. jesteinf, This IS good news. I didn't expect Chef Liccioni to disappoint! I can't wait to try his food. u.e.
  12. Yes, I've been remiss in my postings - thanks HH. I'm happy to say that I (and Dividend, as it happened) enjoyed our last Dave-produced brunch on Sunday. I have mixed emotions about him leaving but, since he didn't ask me, I guess I'll learn to live with it Kidding aside, I look forward to seeing what Chef CAG has up his sleeve. ← Echo (not on the brunch bit, as I wasn't there, but I'm sure it was tasty). Best of luck to Mr. Crum, where'er he's off to (care to share?), and to Chef CAG, not that either of them needs any.
  13. The Chris Cosentino/Michael Ruhlmann-hosted Head to Tail Dinner sound fantastic.
  14. That is unless, on the off chance, that sput is planning for a dinner on Sunday night when both Maze and the MOMA Bar Room are open for dinner, but The Monday Room isn't.
  15. The Bar Room or the Dining Room?
  16. Well, I surely do appreciate it. Let me know if you need me to scope out anywhere in KC for you! Of course, I'll trade places with you and would be happy to scope out places in Chicago... Please do find out if they are open for Sunday dinner! Thanks!
  17. I *don't think* there's a thread dedicated to Old Town Brasserie. I a big fan of Liccioni's cooking and am thrilled to see that the Le Francais closing wasn't the last of him. I've read Phil Vettel's review. I'd love to hear about yours. The website is spartan - unfortunately, their menu link doesn't work (or, hasn't been uploaded yet?). I hear they have a late-night menu that starts at 10.30. Apparently, this place is open until 2am. Metromix lists hours (for the Brasserie) for Sunday-Friday, but I assume that it's open Saturday (it says there's live music Thursdays-Saturdays after 10pm). And, it says the "Market" (which I assume is a less formal quick-eats cafe section?) is open daily from 11am-7pm.
  18. Nope, it's been there for about six months. ← So, what gives? Are they looking to fold, re-locate, or sell their business to another baker?
  19. I look forward to your report back.
  20. Am I the only person who's noticed a "For Sale" outside of this landmark bakery?
  21. Wow, this thread has not been updated in over a year. I just noticed on that 40 Sardines is offering Kobe sliders on their dinner menu. Has anyone tried them? Also, the menu listing of the slider is confusing. Here's how it appears: I'm assuming that Kobe slider is $9 and the other two (foie gras and chicken confit) are $7, apiece.
  22. Thanks, that'd be - er - peachy.
  23. Ronnie, your thread link is broken. Is there another BoKa thread, or was it merged with this one?
  24. Well, a cursory search of the Forum failed to produce any signs of an exisiting thread on terragusto. Has anyone been recently? It looks like a fantastic deal.
