  1. Wow, beautiful. I'm on my way.
  2. I am compiling a list of great under $10 wines available in New Jersey for an article. The list I have so far is: Whites Naia Verdejo Rueda Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc Zenato Lugana San Benedeto Reds Marchesi Di Barolo Barbera D'alba Colonia Las Liebres Bonarda Altos Las Hormigas Malbec Do you have any favorites, if you do what is the name and where do you get it. Thanks
  3. Just opened a can of Muir Glen Whole Peeled Plum Tomatoes. No Basil. And they are delicious. Making a pasta sauce with them today.
  4. I've liked Tre Vigne and Bernards Inn, but they both serve wine Great list at both locations. They are in the Bernardsville area. BYOB Sirin and Adaman. In Morristown if you like Asian. But if you are going that route most consider Origin the best. I also love Sushi Lounge in Morristown. Japanese.
  5. Glad to hear this place is improving. Loved the concept but was disappointed the first two times I was there. I'll give them another try.
  6. Rosie, New Years Eve was a rest and recover after a week of great food in and around Playa Del Carmen on the Mayan Riviera. I am putting together a post on the great restaurants we found there. Happy New Year

  9. Thanks for the tip. I'll try that restaurant soon.
  10. I went to try Saigon House, my office is on Route 10. But they are closed on Monday. Perhaps after New Years.
  11. Dined at Bangkok Kitchen in Caldwell. Pad Thai was very good. I like the room. Very hip with the great painting of a reclining Buddha. This the second time I've been there. First was a few years ago. We went with friends who love the place. I was not that impressed, but I tend to be very fussy. Dining in New York frequently sets the palate to expect better. We had a appetizer of chopped chicken thai spices and greens, kind of a Yum Neua but with chicken instead of beef. It was tasty. Thia Spring rolls were boring and cold inside. A crispy chicken salad was fresh and crispy. They don't have Tod Man Plan which I love. Kids loved all their dishes except the Thai BBQ ribs which were tough and oddly spiced. We had two currys which were acceptable, not divine. And I, not sure why, had a special, sweet and sour chicken and shrimp. Couldn't find anything else on the that was interesting. All in all it is a nice place, friendly service. But nothing to rave about. Next time I'm in the mood for Pan Asian I will make an effort to get out to Morristown to Origin. Actually next Thai restaurant will probably be Zulu Lounge, in Playa Del Carmen Any one have a favorite Thai they can recommend near Montclair, Other than Deja Vu, Thai Chef, Tuptum. 12. Matthew, Thanks for these great Blogs.

  14. I agree, service at Deja Vu has had its problems. My wife and I have been going there since it opened many years ago. There were times it got so bad we just stopped going. Lately it has been good again, newly redecorated, and food quality back up to a high standard. I've only been to the Origin in Sommerville which was good but the staff was outright rude. Loved Andaman we all thought the food was excellent.
  15. I've been there a few times. It is right next to my office. It is a great place for steak in NJ. I am not really a steak person and that is certainly the focus. The decor is a bit garish. In my humble opinion. I also prefer BYOB restaurants because I love wine, Strip House has a liquor license with a pretty good wine list but selections by the glass are not that great. It is certainly not a favorite but if you want steak in that area it is probably your best choice. Peter Conway Mano A Vino Montclair Food and Wine Blog
  16. Met some friends at Andaman for dinner last night. I selected this restaurant because I heard it was originated by the people who did Deja Vu a favorite of ours in Montclair. I also had fond memories of the old August Moon, a landmark Chinese restaurant at this location that I often visited as a kid many many years ago. We tried 3 appetizers, a Thai Dumpling, A Shrimp Spring Roll and Daikon Roll. Then we had a fish course Curried Soft Shell Crabs and a Striped Bass in Black Bean Sauce, then two different Salads, and at the end the Andaman Noodles and Thai BBQ Beef. Everything was delicious, the flavors distinct in each dish, intense and delicate at the same time. The service was good, but the place was empty, the decor is a little tacky but comfortable and clean. Will definitely return. Peter Conway Mano A Vino Montclair Food and Wine Blog
