  1. We loved Bistro in Cannon Beach. It's the Pacific Way Bakery & Cafe in Gearhart. We had two great meals there and my husband would run to the bakery in the am bringing back amazing pasteries for breakfast. Great place! :)
  2. I'll second Bouchee in Carmel. We had my birthday dinner there, it was really nice. I had the tasting menu that was great. For that yummy chocolate sac dessert, you might want to check out the White House in Pacific Grove, also owned by Rober Kincaid. It may be less pricey than Fresh Cream. Casanova is also very good. If you want very high-end, check out Pacific's Edge at the Highland's Inn. In Carmel Valley there is Marinus at the Bernardus Lodge for very formal or Wickets. We loved the food at Wickets and the ambiance is very nice out on the back patio area. Amazing place! In Pebble Beach, Roy's is very, very good with great views. Go at sunset and hear the bagpiper play. So many great choices. We'll be back in the area next month and Tarpey's Roadhouse is first on our list. Tutto Mondo for Italiian and considering Sardine Factory, tho is receives mixed reviews on this and other boards. Bon appetit! :)
  3. The Shelburne Inn is very nice. We have had a few great meals at the Shoalwater, but our last experience there was very disappointed. We now like the 42nd Street Cafe, www.42ndstreetcafe.com In Chinook, I highly suggest the Sanctuary, but check for hours and days open, I believe they only serve dinner on Thurs.-Sun. Very good Swedish meatballs and fresh, fresh salmon there. If you want to stay in Astoria, the Hotel Elliott is very nice. www.hotelelliott.com and Astoria was featured in Coastal Living this month. T. Paul's Urban Cafe, Cannery Cafe and Fulio's are some great places to eat. Have fun!! :)
  4. I have dined at Gotham and clarklewis, but not this place. Both were excellent, I'll be looking forward to your opinons on the place after you try it. Have a great meal and cheers! :)
  5. Has anyone tried Larks yet at the Ashland Springs Hotel. It replaced the Bull's Eye Bistro. Would love opinions on this place. It's open for lunch and dinner and has a cafe, also. I want to try it when we're back in Ashland the end of the month. We drove by it and it's gorgeous, ties in much better with the Springs than the decor of the Bull's Eye Bistro did. :)
  6. I had heard the General's Daughter had gone downhill lately. We enjoyed a couple of great meals there a few years ago. It's nice to hear the place is in good hands again. We'll give it a try next time we're in the Sonoma area. I have always loved the decor and the Victorian feel to the place. :)
  7. There's a new Mexican place in Manzanita, has anyone tried it yet? Would love to hear opinoins on it. Left Coast or something like that? I also saw that Fireside has changed to Bistro Manzanita about 10 months ago. Would love opinons on that place also for our next trip to the area the end of the month. :)
  8. We had an excellent meal at Peerless on Tues. night. I had the Pacific Black Mussel salad with artichoke hearts, avocado, frisee, pine nuts and olive oil vinaigrette. It was excellent. Our entree was the Pan Roasted Oregon Salmon with jasmine rice, sauteedplums, porcini mushrooms, plum verbena sauce. This entree was split and was a nice size portion, no split plate fee that was nice. We shared a glass of the Terrapin Pinot Gris with the salmon. Dessert was the Hazelnut pot de creme with an orange choclolate wafer cookie, chevre cheese and espresso ice cream. Service was great and the ambiance, very, very nice. The outdoor patio area is gorgeous. We will definitely return. Pricey, but very much worth it. Save your pennies for this one, you won't be disappointed! EC is Patrick O' Toole, from the Ritz in San Francisco and he is doing an outstanding job at Peerless. Located at 265 Fourth Street in Ashland. Cheers! :)
  9. Yes, the oysters at Pirate's Cove were good and the crab melt was great. I love the views from the dining room here. It's a good place to fuel up when we make the Seaside to Tillamook trek. :)
  10. I would also like to suggest the Gower Street Bistro in Cannon Beach. We dined there couple of nights ago and had a really nice meal. It's a comfort food type place. I had the caprese salad, the gnocchi in brown butter sauce and a nice glass of Pinot Noir from France that was only $5/glass. Other entrees were the meatloaf, macaroni and cheese and Tarragon chicken. Dessert was the German Chocolate cake that was also very good. Cheers!
  11. For a fine dining experience, check out the Silver Salmon Grille in Astoria. We had a very good dinner there last night. There is a very nice selection of salmon entrees, great clam chowder, warm homemade bread and yummy desserts. We had the creme brulee and chocolate raspberry cake. Three entrees, a bowl of soup, corkage fee and three deserts was around $60. www.silversalmongrille.com Cheers! :)
  12. We had an excellent meal at the Stephanie Inn on Fri. night. It was a four-course meal in an elegant setting. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a fine dining experience in Cannon Beach. It is $44/pp and there are two seatings each night. Reservations have to be guaranteed with a credit card and there are no children under 12 in the dining room. We will definitely be back again and again here. And only a $10 corkage fee. :)
  13. Can anyone reommend a great place to eat in Manzanita? How is Blue Sky Cafe? :)
  14. Enjoyed another great dinner at Pacific Way Bakery and Cafe last night. This place is full on weekends. Definite reservations on weekends here. I had the ahi tuna seared rare and served with red pepper coulis, friend onons, herbed mushroom risotto and spring vegetables. Very good with a nice glass of Rex Hill pinot gris. Other entrees were the cheese pizzas, and tarragon chicken. Marionberry crisp and chocolate souffle cake for desserts. Yum! :)
  15. We have been enjoying the great pasteries from the Pacific Way Bakery every morning. Wow, that place is great all around. Marionberry sweet rolls, scones, strawberry croissants, it's all great. We had a nice lunch at the Pirate's Cove down the coast. The views from the dining room are gorgeous. I had the clam chowder, fried oysters and a crab melt. Food is average, but views are really nice here. We also enjoyed a great little appetizer at the Shilo Inn of steamed clams with a glass of Eola Hills Pinot Gris. The views of the ocean are beautiful from the Shilo but the dinners are a bit over-priced and food is mediocre. It is the only restaurant in Seaside with ocean views, tho. Cheers! :)
  16. Glad you enjoyed Chateaulin, now I think we'll stick with the tried and true and dine here again. This is a place that is always consistent, excellent food, great wine and very professional and attentive service. :)
  17. You might want to consider Marinus at the Bernardus Lodge. We had an outstanding casual lunch at Wickets there. Oh, so good. Does anyone have opinions on Marinus?
  18. I made reservations at Quinz about four days ahead of time. They took my reservation over e-mail. We had a great meal here, but waited over 50 minutes for our salad to arrive. The spinach salad, Swedish meatballs, duck breast and seafood paella were all very good but there were definite service and pacing problems. :) I think we'll check out Amuse or Monet our next visit to Ashland the end of the month.
  19. We had an excellent meal at Bistro last night. We started with the grilled crab cakes over mixed greens and lemon sake butter sauce, then the Greek Lemon soup. Both were excellent. Our entree was the baked wild salmon with lemon and herbs. It was also excellent. For dessert we shared the chocolate ganache cake drizzpled with caramel sauce. The best in Cannon Beach, but we'll be trying the Stephanie Inn soon. I highly recommend Bistro for dinner while in Cannon Beach. :)
  20. We really enjoy the restaurant at the Inn at Morro Bay. Great seafood and service with excellent views of Morro Rock. Cheers! :)
  21. We had an amazing meal at the Pacific Way Bakery & Cafe last night. Service was great, ambiance was quaint and cozy and the food was fantastic. I had the proscuitto wrapped sea scallops with smoked tomato polenta, shaved fennel and balsamic reduction syrup. Beautiful presentation and flavors were wonderful. For dessert I had the marrionberry crisp and vanilla bean ice cream. Just like my grandmother used to make. I highly recommend this place. It's a few minutes from Seaside. 601 Pacific Way, Gearhart, OR Cheers! :)
  22. Our meal at the Gotham Builiding Tavern was excellent all around. Food, service, ambiance all perfect for our one dinner in Portland. We started with the scallops and housemade blood sausage with fennel and sherry vinegar. Excellent and innovative. Then we each shared two of the pasta dishes. The asparagus ravioli with brown butter and the tagiatelle with Uncle Margret's chicken liver ragu. Both wonderful with the chicken liver ragu being my favorite. We then moved on to the arugula goat cheese stuffed dates, pancetta and almonds. This salad was wonderful and the stuffed dates were sweet and flavorful. Our entree was the pan seared oregon salmon fennel gratin with sorrel sauce. My husband said this was one of THE best ways he has salmon prepared while in Portland. Dessert was the housemade malt ice cream with fresh raspberries, chocolate syrup and shortbread cookie. The perfect ending to our excellent meal. A glass of local Pinot Noir was also very good. I highly recommend visiting this place! :)
  23. Another vote for Bouchee in Carmel. Pacific's Edge is also very good at the Highland's Inn. Sierra Mar at the Post Ranch Inn is amazing with beautiful views from the dining room. Cheers! :)
  24. We had a very nice dinner at Cafe La Haye. The dining room is small, but we really enjoyed the ambiance, food and service. I had the Yankee pot roast that was very, very good. Great deserts, also! :)
  25. Thanks! Can you help with bavette cacio e pepe? :)
