  1. Its been a while since I've had a chance to head up to Granville but I was checking out a new place opening soon and then decided to check out some of the more recent additions to the street. I noticed a place called the republik (anyone got any info on who, what and when) that seems to be ready to open soon.

  6. It is a very hard street to get established on. It is interesting to watch this happen as well as the vu le vu across the street. I would attribute this to not really understanding the locals.
  7. Great Thread! I to saw the bus ads for feenies and Lumiere...but there are many more doing the same. (Gee I even saw one for the a funky hot bar in yaletown) I agree with Jamie..with the costs of running your business and the ever shrinking margins you really need to be creative in increasing your check average or creating new income streams Its great to hear the Chuck Currie is at the helm at White Spot. It will be interesting to see what Chuck will bring to the concept.
  8. when I first moved to vancouver in 78 (gosh I'm dating myself) I got a job at Pat's Restaurant in West Vancouver. Last weekend when we went over to the North Shore to check out Whole foods...I thought why not see if they're still there, and they were! After all these years Kirk and Lynn continue to do what they do best year after year.

  10. We have found Jacob to be a great host. He trys very hard to ensure that you get the best! Food is fresh and well presented. Overall a good experience. He also had a series of chef table menus were he creates a menu just for you.
  11. The BG in our neighborhood is one of the ones that just got a make over. Went once and will not go back. Badly laid out and just ok products..I used to be a "spectacoide?" and the BG in my eyes always struggled with format, service and products.
  12. Another option would be a personal chef service, there are alot of good ones out there and they tend to offer a better/different variety
  13. I live in the hood and as I was coming home noticed that they had reopened? Any ideas? Info?
  14. We somehow stumbled on DV8 and were very suprised with the food! The room kinda sends you into shock but if you can brave it out...it was worth it.
