  1. I see the original poster lives in DC. I live in Baltimore. Paris in the winter months is no worse than either of those places. Actually, in Paris, city-stopping snowstorms are rare, unlike the MidAtlantic region. On a cold arrival day, nothing like dissipating the fog of jet-lag with a bowl of onion soup at Brasserie Balzar.
  2. Merci, M. Talbott, for the pawnshop information as well as the review of Le Dome du Marais. That restaurant just got bumped up a few notches on my list, thanks to that review.
  3. The Dome du Marais is on my ever-growing to-do list. I knew that it's located in a former city pawnshop. What I didn't know is that there is a "new" one. Do you have any more information about it? My traveling companion for my December trip is verrrrry interested in any place that has jewelry bargains.
  4. Shouldn't the 3rd person plural be "ils crapaudent"?
  5. I once was shanghai'ed into Chez Clement on the Champs Elysees. Need I say more?
  6. Sadly, La Tartine, as it was was, is no longer. Was there in March of this year, and the whole interior has changed. It's NOT the same. My guess is it was sold, probably to whomever has Au Chai de l'Abbaye in Saint Germain....the dishes were the same. Still good, but decidedly commercial. Bistro Melac in the 11th is worth a visit.
  7. Marlena: Yeah, the website is kind of tacky and it does generate pop-ups, but the restaurant does look good. I won't be there until the beginning of December, so if you try it in the autumn, please report back.
  8. Does any one know this restaurant? I discovered it on the 'net but can't find any reviews or opinions. http://www.lechistera.fr.st/ I'm a new member, have been browsing the forums, and am suitably impressed, so be gentle with me. It's my first post.
