    Kang Suh

Kang Suh is located on 32nd street between 5th and 6th. It is on the south side of 32nd street, much closer to 6th Ave. If you are walking west on 32nd, Kang Suh is immediately past a parking garage. It has two floors, the entrance is on the street level. It is literally the last restaurant on the south side of 32nd if you are walking west, or conversly, the first restuarant on the south side if you are walking east. Hope this helps.

  4. hi gulleters, as we approach crab season, was curious to know where locals go for crabs. will be in the inner harbor mid october, and don't want to go to obryckis. Will have a car, so driving should not be an issue. Suggestions? Thanks in advance. allister
  5. i was in berkeley for some time in the late 90's and remember a great diner type place down university near 80. I'm sorry, I don't know the name of the place, but it was across the street from a Cody's books. If you drive down University, and then made a right turn right before the freeway (entrance ramp for 80) it was in the shopping area there. I believe that that area has been undergoing some change (more stores now) This place had great brunch food, great NYC diner type selections, and a great berry jam.

    China 46

Is this vegetable extremely leafy, almost looks like a maple or marijuana leaf? In it's raw state, is the red in the center of the leaf? Was it stir fried with garlic perhaps? I believe that this is a seasonal vegetable. I believe the chinese/mandarin name for it is dung (pronouced as mandarin homonym for east) han (like the dynasty) tsai.

is the 100.00 wine paring a set price? i lwould love to do the 1x1 but i cant do that and the wine. if you could only choose wine OR additional which would you choose? i am thinking add'l courses but would need confirm the price. The food and wine were both excellent. I was able to speak with the sommelier and talk to him as to how much I wanted to spend on wine. I am sure that they will work within a price point that you are comfortable with. If I could only choose to do one, I would choose the food. Take into account though that I am not a real big wine person.

To clarify, the $100 supplement per person to the 9 course tasting enabled the two of us to have different dishes for all courses except for the fish and meat course. There were extra courses involved, as the total including the amuse and petit fours etc probably brought us to about 17 total courses. We also asked for a wine pairing which was also $100 pp (11 2 ounce pours). Again, let me reiterate that the food and wine were excellent. It was truly a wonderful experience. I am only curious to understand if there is a set price for the premium, if it is arbitrarily priced, or if there is some type of formula?

That's bizarre. We had the 2x2, and the additional charge was only $20.00. I'm aghast. That's outrageous! Why would they do something like this? It's almost like the soup nazi. No soup for you! $100 for you. On a side note - an additional $20 per person. That's awesome! Was that including foie? Or was the foie supplement $20 as well?

I had the opportunity to experience Per Se Friday nite. I will use the word experience as that is what it was. I will post a fuller review later, as well as post some pictures of the dishes that I had. I am writing for a different reason and would like to understand the experiece of other gulleters. Let me get to my point. My friend and I had opted for the 9 course tasting. She had asked for some substitutions, (a seafood dish for the meat dish) and I had aslo asked if we could do the 2x2 ( have two different dishes for each course) Our waiter/captain noted our requests, and went back to the kitchen to ask the chef if it was possible. He came back and noted that the 1x1 (i guess it's a 1x1 if there are just two of us and not a 2x2) would be an additional $100 per person. I was ok with this. After speaking with the sommelier regarding the wine pairing and our price range, the meal ensued. And it was excellent. My question here is, have others tried the 1x1, 2x2,3x3 and if so, what was the premium? I have read in other places that some have been charged $50 per person for this premium? Is that the case? If so, this is distressing. Why is there a difference in price strategy here? Again, let me reiterate, that the meal was amazing, but if it is true that the premium for being 'VIPed' ( and yes, I know it is a service, and I should be happy that they are willing to accomodate) is arbitrary, then that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Would like to understnad other's thoughts in this. Thanks. Allister

  12. I have a vote in for Aiello's (27/28 and 3rd) Never had the pizza there, can't comment on that sorry, but great wings. good ratio of acidity/spiceness/'fried-ness' of wing
  13. March 3rd, rescheduled yesterday for May 28th 9PM. I was told the same about the May 20th reopen date. Was also told the Per Se would not be open for the first few Mondays and Tuesdays (assume at least 24/25, possibly 31/1). Not sure about how they are rescheduling and what the priorities would be. Did ask about trading a per se for a FL, and was told that many have asked the same question. They currently are not able to accomodate the request, but will take your name down, and send it to FL when they restart taking reservation April 15th.
