  1. Oh well, disregard all PM's dbrociner. Maybe next time.
  2. I'll meet you there tomorrow, and I'll bring a pack of Martin's Potato Rolls!! I pretty sure Jack won't mind-He's nice like that.
  3. anyone know if this is Jack's first foree into the restaurant business, speaking of butchering french? ← He's been doing catering for a long time, but I think this is his 1st resto.
  4. Oh, did I mention that I had an Italian beef served "wet" also? It was nice and (black) peppery. I really enjoyed it.
  5. Folks, Just back from J's Chicago Style Beef and Sausage. I welcomed Jack to the NJ hot dog scene with an AHD t-shirt, he was profusely appologetic that he didn't have a t-shirt in which to reciprocate the gesture. He is a nice man and a fine addition to the hot dog culture in NJ. One taste of the Vienna Beef dog and you know it is of high quality. I'm with John as far as the Chicago style being an aquired taste. It was good, but I can't see myself craving one when my next hot dog jones hits which usually is every hour on the half hour! I went because I wanted to experience an authentic Chicago Style hot dog. I believe his dog is spot on because as John mentioned, 98% of the ingredients come from Chicago and alot of items from Vienna Beef directly. i assured Jack that we won't be serving a Chicago dog at AHD for the same reason we don't sell an Italian Hot Dog. We leave them to the professional Italian hot dog guys, and I'm happy to say that I now have a fine establishment to recommend to those folks looking for a true Chicago Style Hot Dog experience. I hope Jack comes to AHD someday soon. It'll be my pleasure to serve him. Eric
  6. Welp, looks like I know where I'll be eating lunch tomorrow! It'll be nice to "meat" another newbie in the hot dog biz. Now, do I wear an Amazing Hot Dog shirt or not? Oh heck, I guess I'll wear one and maybe bring one to trade. John, what size do you reckon the guy wears? Eric
  7. Hey folks, Just a quick FYI post... We have been re-opened for about a month now and are happy to report that we have seen alot of old friends and TONS of new faces in the restaurant. I think that since we chose to open without fanfare, and little to no advertizing, the build up to the current volume was slower than we would have liked, but it has leveled off over the past few days to very close to where it was before the fire. Thanks once again for dining with us. We are doing a LIVE, in studio demo on Channel 4, WNBC's TODAY in NY program on Sunday morning at 8:40 AM. We are very excited and a little bit nervous about our 1st live TV gig, but we are well prepared to be who we are and do what we do. It's ALL good!! Also, we will be open on Monday (Memorial Day). We are not sure if we will be busy or not, but we will know by 3PM. If we are slow, we may close early. Our Summer hours begin on Monday (Tuesday if we close early on Monday) We will be open an extra hour untill 9PM through Labor Day. And finally, We have a summer special through Labor Day. Be a Superhero at your next BBQ Get a FREE package of Martin's Potato Rolls with the purchase of a 5 pound Pkg of our Classic Hot Dogs (20 hot dogs per pack) for $25.00. Additional 8 packs of rolls are available for $2.50. Have a great Memorial day everybody, and enjoy the fabulous weather.
  8. What type of cuisine is going to be served at Julios?
  9. Nice to see you guys again. Eric
  10. Tracey, Thanks for being part of our comeback week!! We eased into it s-l-o-w-l-y and ended the week with a B-a-n-g!! on Saturday. It's like we never even skipped a beat. We find ourselves really scratching our heads about that infamous Saturday after the channel 7 news piece. We have handled equal and more volume since with wait times of 5 minutes or less. I guess we need to chalk it up to our inexperience at the time. as far as onion rings go, I say, it's not likely in THIS location because of the lack of a REAL prep area. We are using all available space and pre opening time to do the fries. The last thing we are going to do is throw frozen onion rings at you guys(unless of course we make them and freeze them ourselves!!). If I sell you an onion ring, it's going to be hand cut, soaked in milk(for sweetness), lightly battered, etc.... I happen to LOVE O-rings myself, but it's logistically impossible in the Verona store. Thanks again for stopping in!! Eric
  11. Slightly off topic, but at Amazing Hot Dog, it's ALL about the Whiz!!! The real stuff from Kraft, not generic "cheese sauce" Not all vendors carry it. We had to buy 10 cases in order to meet the minimum purchase from the vendor who carry's it. If I had to walk to Philly to get it I would.
  12. **Eric Woads his Wienie Wifle and bwasts this post into smithereens** BLAM!!!!!!! Waskily Wabbit!! Goodbye and good Widdance
  13. All righty then....Where were we? Oh that's right, I left a family business after 20 years to sell,.......gee...what was it I was doing a few months ago? OH YEAH, HOT DOGS!!! I am pleased to inform you that AMAZING HOT DOG has passed all required inspections and is opening on Monday May 1st!! We have been working since 7:00 this morning (now 10:30 PM) buttoning up the loose ends and prepping our ingredients. After a full day tomorrow, and a well needed rest on Sunday, We will open our doors at 10:00 Monday morning. Our vendors have delivered all we need to begin serving our customers. It is an awesome sight at AHD right now; 2600 hot dogs, 600 pounds of potatoes etc... It feels good to be "home" again. Eric
  14. YES!! It's true. AMAZING HOT DOG will re-open the 1st week of May. Look to our website for the official "WE'RE OPEN!!" on the home page. We aren't specifying an exact date to allow for some wiggle room in case an unforseen delay show up next week. We have a busy one-Countertop installs, Signage, OY and then the final inspections; Plumbing, Fire, Electrical, and health all in one week!! I also want to thank you, my Egullet culinary compadres, for being such a huge part of AMAZING HOT DOG as shown by the great article that Ken Plutnicki wrote in today's NY Times. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for your kind words and for your much appreciated support. Please introduce yourselves to me if/when you come into AMAZING HOT DOG. Eric
  15. Yep, got it. Thanks for thinking of us!! Eric
  16. No worries Allie, We are staying in Verona. We are looking at other areas for store #2. We are now saying 2 1/2 to 3 weeks till we re open. I'll post an actual date when we know for sure. Eric
  17. Do any of you have any thoughts on Morris Plains/Parsippany/Denville on Rt 53? Seems to be a well traveled road and has easy access from Rt 10, Rt 46, and Rt 80. There is a Subway and a Dunkin Donuts in the area. These guys usually strategically place themselves. If they think its a good area, then maybe it is a good area for an AHD. What do you think?
  18. Allison and all, They broke the mold after this contractor signed up; He is really GREAT!! He has only been on the job for a week and I am amazed at how much work is done. The new drop cieling is in, the electrical work is complete, the walls are well on their way to completion (looks like by the end of next week for sure) and he is going to begin the floor next week as well. I'm going to say about a month till we open. Matt and I are pretty much at AHD everyday, so please feel free to stop by for the "grand tour" Eric

Relentless about the pictures aren't you? See Harrar post response.
  20. OY the pressure!! I can't handle all the pressure. Lazyness has set in. could it be because Beth and I haven't stopped eating since our kids went to Florida with my parents on Saturday? I'll work on it.
  21. Hey folks, Here's the latest update: We FINALLY got the required permits and the landlords contractor started getting the place ready for the work he has to do. All the debris and junk has been removed and tomorrow morning they are going to begin tackling the walls. We originally were talking about complete rmoval and rebuild of the walls, but I think we decided to do a chemical cleaning/Kilz oil based primer/thin layer of spackle to make them even and smooth then fresh paint. I've been guaranteed that there will be no detectable smoke odor when they are all done. PSE&G should give us power back as well tomorrow. Then we can get temp lighting in and test the walk in fridge. All of our equiptment is going to be replaced with new and there will be very few changes. Some changes of note are slightly bigger LCD TV's (from 15 inch to 17 inch wide screens) 18 inches more of counter space for bagging togo orders, a high tech Co2 powered ketchup and mustard dispenser at the condiment stand instead of the little table top manual pump that had to constantly be refilled, and a cold beverage dispenser for our homemade limeade. The contractor said his work will take at least a month so we are going to say at least 6 weeks from today for a potential re-opening time slot. Matt and I have begun scoping out possible second locations in our free time(of which we have alot of) If there is a spot in your area that is available and you drive by and say "THAT would make a great spot for an AMAZING HOT DOG", please let me know. Thanks again for all your support. Eric Eisenbud
  22. Congratulations Bruce, Nelly and team!! We Egulleters expect nothing less from the place we think has THE best Q in the land. Seriously folks I am so happy to know of you guys and to be able to partake in the masters succulent offerings. I'll/we'll be back soon. Eric
  23. Blu gets my vote!! After all AHD is out of the question, LOL
  24. Boy, did this information raise my eyebrows. And from what section of the orchard exactly do the hot dogs come from, oh guru of stuffed casings?
  25. These are the pics from Tomo's that Rosie took and that BethE ever-so-kindly (yeah right) asked me to post:
