  1. that's about the greatest thing I've ever seen :) thank you for making my monday!
  2. i have used sevral at sansom street. we usually use them at lunch, for either 2 or 4. my husband had a beer once and they took it off, but i'm not sure it you went and ordered an app and several drinks whether they would be too happy. when we have 2 for lunch i always try to "order up" a little. I recently took my sister and we ordered steamed clams to split, 2 lunches and 2 iced teas, total was still only 34 bucks ;) (minus my 25 of course) in case you don't know, the restaurant get's 0$ from the purchase of the gift certificate. what they get from restaurant.com is developement of their website and advertising. that being said i just bought a slew of them with that discount code (including 4 for sansom street). if they stop taking them, go out of business, or simply change their restriction (restaurants change their restrictions often, and they should honor your gc with the restrictions printed on them, but often don't), restaurant.com will issue a refund (we've gotten several) happy dining :)
  3. you rock! i had the e-mail from restaurant.com (they send it to people who have purchased before, i guess), and had checked and most of the philly ones were sold out, but i went back after reading your post and it looks like they restocked i picked up 4 Sansom Streets :) and they let you use it for lunch!
  4. katie....many thanks, i made the morrocan fish for a mini sder last night (just me and my hubby, we did the family thing sunday night when people were back in town) and it was fabulous! He really loved it :)
  5. italian catholic girl here who married a hunky jewish boy and now hosts all the jewish holidays ;) loved all your recipes/wine advice! I hope to make a few over passover (sister in law is a veggie so it might be tuff), forwarded the short ribs recipe to my mother in law and she sends her undying love to you for it! we were lucky enough to pick up some nice italian kosher wines this summer in tuscany (my husband was happy and surprised that there was such a selection) thanks again for the great article
  6. Adriatica had a late night menu last time I was in Old City, but I don't think it started till 10pm? It was good though my husband and i shared a few small plates and i remember the lavender honey brie being a standout.
  7. thank you for the welcome! i've been lurking since a bunch of you "jumped ship" from the other board katie, you are right, it's just like grandma's cooking only better! I am a sucker for italian wedding soup (which is basically what the escarole soup was minus the pastina), but the lentil might have even been better! Although it's pretty much splitting hairs cause they were both fabulous. (As an aside, Greg - I never got to thank you for hosting the 16 of us that night for dinner a few moths back, we had an awesome time, and your staff did an admirable job with a large group, everyone raved about the whole experience)
  8. Loooonnnggg time lurker here who had to post to thatnk you guys for this fabulous restaurant. Went saturday night and had a great dinner! Hubby and I had 2 soups (lentil and meatball and escarole (soup of the day)), chicken cacciatore and veal piccata, and everything was fabulous. YUM! Service was a bit slow (apparently a waitress called out, and they have been very crowded recently due to “some good reviews” per our waitress – wonder from where? )) but they made up for it by filling our wait time with free bruscetta and free salads. (Not to mention free shots of lemonchello at the end of the meal). The owner (also the chef) and staff were all really really nice about everything. If you don't want to byob (about 2/3 of the restaurant had wine carriers with them), they had a decent selection of wines at moderate prices. Total was 51 bucks for a really fun night (2 bucks a bottle corkage, in case anyone cares), wasn't anything fancy, just very quality italian cooking. can't wait to go back Thanks again!
