  1. thanks andrew! adding it to my list
  2. thanks katie, we will def have some of the spicy stuff for us but our 4 year old will just have to put up with han's insults lol. from looking at philadining's pics a) it all looks awesome b) son would love those dumplings (i suck the spicy sauce off at szechuan tasty house, so they are a little spicy but he loooves them) and he would love those string beans! can;t wait to try it
  3. probably a dumb question but are there things you can recommend that AREN'T spicy? I would love to try this place but we would take our son who has a pretty big palette but can;t do the spicy, and i think my husband would like one non spicy dish to mix it up as well i've already noted the spicy recommendations - thanks!
  4. ugh i just got there for the first time on my birthday and loved it
  5. it was awesome. the standout was the second course which was a poached lobster with an avocado grapefruit salad. soooooooooo yummy. and they were very kind my husband is allergic to lobster and wnated to do the tasting menu so they did the same sald with a few fried oysters on top which he loved and appreciated! it was the perfect amount of food for me. but my husband definately left a little hungry. i think if we do it again i'll do the tasting and he'll order off the menu. service was a little oddly spaced (some long waits between courses) but we were with friends and didn't mind. plus we sat and finished our wine for quite awhile after we finished dessert and never felt rushed out so that was very nice!
  6. dagordon - question for you - was it too much food? we are going tonite, and i'm afraid if my husband and i both get it we will be flat out stuffed! I am super excited to try it though, it's been far too long since we've been but that's what having a 3 year old does to you
  7. i'm pretty sure they (STH) don't deliver to me (i asked when i was there) at 23rd and mt vernon but i will DEFINATELY check again, gee wouldn't that be a nice surprise! failing that when we do order (which is rare since we found it not as good as chinatown and we found delivery mexican) we do asia on the parkway, square on square or trio (more thai than chinese). all are acceptable to good (light years better than golden chopstick)
  8. meeting my mother in law tomorrow, we are flying to orlando, she is driving from ocala. we are heading to port canaveral but want to meet her for breakfast to drop our son off (she is watching him while we take a weekend cruise). We are renting a car, would like to meet close to the airport but not in (so she can avoid parking and whatnot). Doesn't have to be fabulous or fancy, just close by, easy to find and serving breakfast. ideas? oh yeah we are meeting her tomorrow
  9. normally i would too, except these days i'm usually rushing to pick up a toddler somewhere next year i'll know and plan accordingly, i guess the first year always has a learning curve (i did sneak over to le bus to get day old bread for my stuffing though )
  10. hey to follow up. the turkey was wonderful, i prepared it very simply and it was really juicy and vursting with flavor. the pickup process at godshall's leaves much to be desired (even though you preordered you have to take a number and wait in line, i went tuesday at aroun2:30 and was there for almost an hour), but the turkey was lovely
  11. i wound up ordering at godshall;s cause i wanted a turkey and a breast and they could do both. I have to say the guy who awnsered the phone was a jerk (i had a question or 2 and he was real snippy with me). Hopefully the turkey is good, i pick it up tuesday
  12. thank you! now which type turkey from the farmstand? i will say 5.85 (for the heriatge) seems a bit much per pound for a turkey, but i'm willing to give it a go if it's worth it...
  13. thanks! i should have been more clear that i meant where to buy one (the cooking part i'm cool on), i had a 2 year old pounding on the key board while i was trying to type so the message was brief i'm in town and between work and a 2 year old it has to be close by (ie:reading terminal/south philly etc) mrbigjas - did you have to call to reserve or stop by? do they have turkey breasts as well? i'm haveing approx 20 people and was going to do a medium sized bird and a breast.... thanks for all of your help and suggestions!
  14. hosting thanksgiving this year for both sides of the family and would like to go fresh instead of frozen. suggestions?
  15. we had a nice time. it was 24.95, i wouldn't say it was worth it, meaning no way the 7 of us ate 175$ worth of food or even close. i thought the pastries were just ok. they had the chocolate fountain which was good, and lots of fruit and things to dip, and a gentelman was making fresh filled crepes. All in all i'd say the quality of the desserts was good. The atmosphere is beautiful (esp for us celebrating 2 very special occasions), nice music beautiful room. The value, eh. 25$ is alot for dessert and we each had a drink with it (not included) so all in all it came to 250 + tip for seven people to have desserts and 1 drink, kind of a pricey evening. Nice to try but i don't think i'll rush back
