Does anyone know Where? Teaneck could use another grocery store, This store may be too upscale for Teaneck
-
yes, that's were they were. I had heard that Ruscellos had good food but very slooowwwwww service .

Unfortunatly, Yes! Not to worry. It will prolly continue to be a lot of different places in the future! Definition of "Restaurant": Method for turning a large fortune into a small one. Nick My dh the barfly (loL) says it opened as suzie's sister in the mid seventies,( It was a rebuild as the old rest.burnt down) and it changed it's name to Suzie's . Closed in 1987/88 > It was supposed to open as Korean rest, the backers ran out of money.. and then finally it reopened as Fiddlehead's. It had a great bar crowd- lots of fun ,thanks to a bartender named Matty who departed NNJ for Disney in the 90's . I also think it was " the lobster pound" or something like it in the 80's. enough history.

Does anyone remember when Fiddleheads was Susie's Sister back in the eighties. That spot has been alot of places- used to love it when I was single. Borderline Bagels does make a good bagel. I 'm looking forward to their new place. Any idea when it will open ?

La famiglia in Bogota is very family friendy - Mixed reviews on it, I like it - my neighbors don't. But i been there many time with 3 or 4 kids aged from 1-5, and they always welcome me back. Teaneck Pizza just opened a mongolian beef (i think) side resturant, that's further up on Degraw/Fort Lee Road, right next to Teaneck Pizza. (good pizza too). Segovia's in Moonachie is always welcoming to children. La Posada is nice too- but they are closed for renovations, boo hoo.( they don't have crayons but they do give out beans and rice and the kids fill up on chips) Meson Madrid must be child friendly too, (my relatives go there with their wild Kids) where else, oh probably any of the resturants on Cedar Lane -Teaneck. But Lido's in hackensack is one of my favorites( i went there when I was foot stomper ,knee biter) , there's the old lido II (now hannahs ) in New Milford- very very child friendly. I've been hearing good things about the Grant Street Cafe in Dumont. That's all I can think of now

We ate there last night. The waiters are dressed nicely, and It's a little more upscale in price and looks than La famiglia ,But to me the food was nothing special and no better than La Famiglia. and Yes, the silverware was also Cafeteria type. Pet gripe, they (the busboy)served Dinner to the me and my dh , even though my dh was away from the table. Coffee was good tho.

That's the corner of Boulevard and Main Street in New Milford. The butchers are nice and will special order items. They are also advertising home made breakfast sausage, I 'm planning to try that out. United Meat Market 285 Main Street New MIlford (next to Haworth, dumont and oradell) 201 265-6530 I think they deliver.

Perhaps the trick to the place is the specials. I always enjoy my meals there but I usually order off the board or Vegatarian entree. Another reason it may have been picked is the early bird special. It really packs them in. Jason, there is only one deserts a night thats homemade.

Ohhh, ligonberries..That must be yummy. I plan to try something with Raspberries and or blackberries. Everclear would be fine- just a heck more potent. The Limoncello seems to have quite a kick to me.

Yes, you can have a lemon tree in NJ. I got myself a dwarf meyers lemon tree from four wind growers. It was inside all winter, it has teeny tiny lemons on it. As far as limoncello, i made this last year using organic lemons, my mom says it pretty close to the version she was served in Italy. If you would like a small sample( I'm very stingy with this), drop over .

We go every few months, whenever we find ourselves with a babysitter. All this talk of food - lets' talk Sangria- It's wonderful . On the weekends, usually Saturday - there is a singer. In Teaneck, most resturaunts are slow on Friday Night- It's the Sabbath for many in Teaneck.
-
They do take reservations . 201489-1713 The food is Italian. The mom makes the homemade cakes, the daughter serves the food and the husband cooks it.

I love Limoncello. I made some last summer and I have some in my freezer for those hot nights. It's so good. My recipe is from a apron (from Italy that I received last year) I used recipe below , since I didn't understand the italian/english directions. I also make a wonderful cherry brandy..and I 'm working on a strawberry liquor. Just give me some vodka and some fruit. From Allrecipes, Limoncello Submitted by: Michele O'Sullivan Truly worth the time required to create this distinguished ice cold refreshing drink. Servings: 34 Ingredients: 10 lemon 1 liter vodka 3 cups white sugar 4 cups water Directions: 1. Zest the lemons, and place zest into a large glass bottle or jar. Pour in vodka. Cover loosely and let infuse for one week at room temperature. 2. After one week, combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. DO NOT STIR. Boil for 15 minutes. Allow syrup to cool to room temperature. 3. Stir vodka mixture into syrup. Strain into glass bottles, and seal each bottle with a cork. Let mixture age for 2 weeks at room temperature. 4. Place bottled liqueur into the freezer. When icy cold, serve in chilled vodka glasses or shot glasses. ---------------------------

There's also a weird singles night life happening there. There's a big single thing happening at the bar with patrons in their's sixties and seventies dressed as if they were in their 20's complete with frozen faces from facelift. Other than than, it's really a special nite out, to relax, eat and drink.

The food is very very good as longer as you don't order the Pasta dishes. The salmon in puff pastry was wonderful, the short rib named "yadda dabba (do)" was reportly great and eaten to the bone ( there were no crumbs for those of us suffering with the bland saffron Fettucini with lobster and shrimp)The lamb dish was excellent. The appetisers are amazing, we got 2 seafood towers- crab legs, shrimp and oysters, clams on the half shell. We also passed around a soft shell crab tempura with a ginger sauce- very tasty. they have an excellent variety of breads -- you must try the pepper breadsticks. The deserts are wonderful- we got a sampler platter. We are going back next saturday, I can't wait. The Restaurant , Hackensack NJ review

I've driven by the restauarant , and have noticed that it has become more upscale. Last week, I noticed a large party having dinner outside eating some lucious looking entrees. I was planning on trying it out soon. I know that it used to be just a pizza place- but it looks like it changed in the last 10 months. La famiglia started out as a pizza place.

I'm a ex advertising sales rep from the Bergen Record. Restaurants used to beg me to get them reviewed..... I would have to tell them, that advertising and editorial are totally separate entitys, like the church and state. I would not want them to be reviewed, just in case, it did not turn out well..( The binghampton has been getting bad reviews for years -Nelson Gross would always be screaming at us about them but he still advertised.

] I agree, it's a good place to bring a family or not, everyone is happy....and they know how to serve a large table. I think it was great when it was around the corner, but now it's bigger and has parking. I always have a good meal there.

In the 70's and 80's Frankies was the King of subs...They are good now, but not what they were when they were owned by the older couple .
-
Has anyone eaten here recently ? My coworkers went there just for drinks and light nosh, said it was good, pricey and dark. I 'm going tonight with a crowd of people, just wanted to know what to order or avoid. I don't even expect good service for our numbers.

It's Byo. There's a great wine store on the corner of Queen Anne & Fort lee Road. There's a really bad liquor store diagonally across from La Famiglia parking lot on Palisades.

Actually , Marva's Southern is on Teaneck Road , Teaneck (same road as Jason mention, but by the armory ithe name changes from Washington Avenue to Teaneck Road. It's a small purple building 201-837-9080 1287 Teaneck Road, Teaneck,

I have heard good things about "The Resturant" . My boss has lunch there a lot. It has to be decent - for it to survive in that part of Hackensack.-

jason, yes, I most certainly am. I feel like "the mystery guest"
