A little perspective from those of us who live/have lived in Morris County...it's VERY obvious that isn't Morristown. The E.H. location is at least 7 miles from the center of Morristown. They may as well put something in Ridgewood and call it the Meadowlands Area if they're going to go that route. If you want to get really technical, it's almost on the Livingston border.

Just busting you, Suzi!!!
-
Aren't you practically in PA when you reach Sparta? They have Wegmans in PA...
-
Ooh...right behind Bill and Harry's Chinese--a longtime favorite spot. Now I know exactly where that is. Thank you!! Basically next to the big Warnock dealership. Shit, they're going to have to add 3 more lanes for the additional traffic--it's bad enough already up there!!
-
THANKS!!! Care to provide a landmark with that location? For the life of me, I can't picture where New Murray Road is...is it up towards Ridgedale Ave?
-
mehmeh, you mentioned that you were browsing through "a" Wegmans web site...I was just all over www.wegmans.com and can't find anything about a location pending in Morris County. Do you have inside info/access to something we don't? Do you work for the company? Now you've really got my curiosity piqued!! And fwiw, if you DO have access to the fine folks on the corporate level, you can let them know that East Hanover and/or Hanover Twp simply isn't Morristown. Nothing wrong with any of the above locations, but Morristown is Morristown. They could get away with saying that if it was planned for Morris Twp, but not for Hanover/E. Hanover. Morris County would be a more appropriate reference--externally or internally!

CHA-CHING!! That's the sound of (Eastern) Morris County's real estate going up another notch...

Just wanted to remind everyone that this is coming up next weekend... Anyone planning to go?

I think I speak for all of us when I say that we're expecting audio as well as photos on the Per Se thread for this one, Anthony!!! Perhaps you can convince him to do a few other numbers as well...?!? And if he's good, maybe he can get in to that Chef's Theater... DO ENJOY.

The reporter has told me that she's also working on an article on eGullet and food forums in general...I'll let you know when it's supposed to run once she finds out! I figure she's helping spread the word. Or is it the gospel...???

Well, if I had one... Is this your way of telling me to hit the eG store, Rosie? Heehee And fwiw, the only somewhat incorrect info about me in that article was the fact that I work for RUTGERS. All that publicity, but no mention of RU has my co-workers busting me quite a bit!! Casey, I look forward to sharing higher ed stories!

I guess the other NJ media star isn't on line yet! I've spent a good chunk of the day fielding questions via email and by phone, so here's MY story of how I came to have my 15 seconds: I got an email via eG from a woman who was writing a story about Sunday dinner for the Star Ledger. She had read a post I made on an eG thread, but I couldn't be sure of which one--it was either in Sunday dinner--do you still make it or in If you're single, do you still really cook? Either way, my answer was likely a lengthy "hell yeah!" b/c I tend to cook on Sundays so there's food in the house for the coming week. The writer asked if I would be willing to be interviewed, I said yes, and at the end of the interview, she wanted to know if I would let a photographer come to the house to take pics of me cooking and serving the dishes. The only requirement was that I had to give her the recipes I was making so they could be published alongside the article. I never expected to be credited for the recipes, esp since one is from Nigella Lawson, but I guess they have to publish them with me sharing the credit to avoid any copyright issues. Regardless, my friends were amused (according to them, it's just another one of those things that only I could get them in to...) and I had a really fun day because of it! I just never expected that the article and pics would be so, er, prominently placed!!

Sadly, I don't know how to make it 'pretty'...here it is! Pics aren't on line. http://www.nj.com/living/ledger/index.ssf?...15787454770.xml

Thanks for the plug, Rosie! And congrats, Rich...

Yes, Tommy felt that he didn't have enough wine with him already, and was obviously afraid that none of us would bring any. Better safe than sorry...!

Just my two cents, but having been to La Fontana a few times for business lunches and dinners, I think it's much more about the ambience and 'fussiness' of service than it is about the food. I will say that the service has always been extremely attentive, though. Kim, have you had great meals there? I've been wholly underwhelmed.

An up-front admission...I called Linda at VG to get the full menu, because I was so worried that I'd forget a course or not describe something correctly. It was a wonderful meal! Here's the official menu and wine list: Trio of Amuse Bouche Foie Gras Torchon on Red Onion Marmalade and Brioche Toast Crispy Sweetbread with Bacon, Pineapple and Aged Balsamic Kumamoto Oyster with Cucumber Sorbet and Caviar Gazpacho with Prawns, Basil Oil and Aged Sherry Vinegar Choice of: Maryland Soft Shell Crab over Zucchini Blossoms, Fresh Peas with Lobster Lemon Butter or Swordfish over sauteed Fennel with Lemon Confit, Heirloom Toybox Tomatoes with a Tomato Broth Foie Sandwich: Seared Foie Gras between Brioche with Rhubarb, Apple, Cabernet Sauce and Pistachio Oil Seared Muscovy Duck Breast over Rissoto with Ramps, Morels, Fava Beans and Duck Confit Rack of Lamb with Truffle Potato Puree over medley of golden beets, red beets and fresh peas with a Red Wine Sauce Dessert Plate: Lemon Tart Chocolate Panna Cotta Brioche Bread Pudding Raspberry Sorbet A few fresh blue and blackberries The Wine List (Wine Scribe's note: I know I'm missing the Chateau St. Michelle ____; would someone please fill in that blank??? Also, these are in no particular order, but I'll note the few that everyone agreed on as particularly good with certain dishes) Zardetto Prosecco Dr. Loosen Riesling ’01 Norman Vineyards Zinfandel “The Monster” from Paso Robles ’01 Domaine de Baumard Quarts de Chaume ***AWESOME with the foie gras ’02 Beaux Frères Willamette Valley Pinot Noir ’01 Hedges Columbia Valley CMS (A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (half), Merlot (45%), Cabernet Franc (3%), and Syrah (2%) ) ***Great with the duck ’00 Behrens & Hitchcock Oakville Merlot ’00 Turley California Old Vines Zinfandel ’00 Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon ’75 Don PX (Pedro Ximenes ) Gran Reserva I'd have to say that my #1 is a tough choice, and it's between two totally different dishes--the foie gras sandwich and the swordfish. Each delicious and exquisite in their own right. But that broth under the swordfish tasted like spring. And the foie...well, the foie was incredible. Don't make me decide!! Now that you're all drooling, GO TRY VILLAGE GREEN!! Linda and Art were fantastic as our hosts, and Mark's beautiful guitar playing really added to the evening as well.

Oh, there was a meal?!? I just remember MANY bottles. And glasses... Great time, great company, great wines. I'll post the full list later today. Thanks again to Anthony for coordinating everything!!

I thought I'd revive this old (but new to me) thread, since I'm sure people have new tales to tell. I don't know if this officially qualifies as a blunder, but it's a story that just kills a few friends who were in the room when it happened. We were hanging out at my place for the night and decided to order from a local Italian place that makes GREAT veggie pizza. Everyone had put their two cents in ("As long as it doesn't have ____ on it...") and I made the call. This was the exchange as they heard it: Me: "Hi, can you tell me what's on your vegetable pizza?" VERY LONG PAUSE DURING WHICH TIME I WAS BENT OVER AND WHEEZING WITH LAUGHTER Me, after composing myself: "I know that. Can you tell me which ones?!?" Yes, the high school-aged kid who answered the phone had simply replied, "Vegetables."

Wow, Lou--that IS a bargain! This really is a great opportunity for those who've been meaning to get to AAG...

Guys, please...let's play NICE, shall we?!? I actually invented the Internet. Shh...let's keep that our little secret, okay? Anthony, do you want all of us to bring exact change? If so, $48 pp, right? Looking forward to it--esp the part where Tommy will try to come up with stuff to say...
