Just a reminder that tomorrow (Sat) is the last day that Fink's storefront is open. I just called--hours today and tomorrow are 11am - 10pm.
-
Folks, don't waste your time--based on his last post, he already had the dinner!
-
Oh, I do too...believe me!! But I've always used a headset on my cell, so at least I don't have to worry about being pulled over for THAT too.
-
Funny thing is, for years my crowd has always joked that everything in NJ is about 20 minutes from everything else--no matter what the starting point is! Then again, I grew up in Morris Cty; maybe we needed the extra 5 b/c we were (then) way out in the country?

But if atmosphere is important, Peninsula is a bit more run-down, imho. Same owners, and they're diagonally across from one another and you can still park in the lot next to Peninsula, but I prefer Iberia's atmosphere/decor.

Um, YAAAAAAH...it sure does, Anthony!! My vote is to go for it. Thanks again for making the arrangements! I'm in...

Finally got to Fink's yesterday, and I can't decide if I'm glad that it took this long for me to go or I'm sorry--only b/c I'd be taking that ride waaaaaaaay too often! Fink, it was all delicious, but I have to say that my biggest surprise was the pulled CHICKEN! I ordered the sampler plate b/c I didn't want to miss out on anything, and I almost asked for more pulled pork or ribs instead of the chicken; I'm so glad that I didn't! Seriously--that was some of the best BBQ I've had in a very long time. Sorry you weren't in--I had hoped to say hello. I ordered 1/2 doz wings, the sampler platter (ribs, brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken), large fries, and the individual sweet potato torte. Had the wings as an app when I got home, and about 2 hours later, warmed up the sampler platter. Now I know why everyone has been raving. Sigh... Thanks to a friend backing out on me last night, I have enough left over for dinner again tonight. Best to you in your next stage...I look forward to seeing you at the eG event in September! Be well, Curlz

Need a little help...I'm finally going to get up to Fink's today--what are the DON'T-MISS items??? I got the menu faxed to me and will pre-order... Thanks in advance for the help!

Okay, so you have more info on the separation than I do, Rachel! No surprise. :-) But when I'm out in Mo Co and want something quick, particularly on a cold winter day when a lunch special from B&H hits the spot, I love popping in there. The waiter STILL recognizes me and greets me like it's old home week--and I haven't lived out there in 8 years!

I see drunk people...and they're always with Tommy!!! Thanks for sharing, Amy. That was a fun night!

The Usual Result of Near-miss Or even Fatal Fires is The Horrible, Even Stupid Tendency Of Very drunk cooks to leave Everything ON. Remember, safety first, drinks second, folks.

No, that's the other (BEST) Bill & Harry's...there are actually three of them (or there were)--the one in E. Hanover (did I mention it's the BEST?), the one in Livingston which I'm pretty sure was only takeout or maybe 2-3 tables, and one in Maplewood. At one time, they were all under the same owner, but I think Maplewood and Livingston had been separate from E. Hanover for many years--as in, over a decade.

How much do you want to spend, Chef? And any kind of cuisine? Let us know...I'm sure we'll be able to come up with at least a few suggestions for you!

WOW. Hopefully nobody was hurt--that's a really congested mall with stuff up above, if I remember correctly.

Okay, you're teasing us, right? Opened the link, but the page is blank!

I'm sorry, but I read this and BURST out laughing--I'm assuming that a headcheese operation is nothing like a triple bypass... Seriously--I'm with Rachel; my first thought upon reading this list was "What are they doing--trying to kill her?!?" for the same reason--seemed like a rather rich list for someone who just had surgery! But it's a rich list anyway--a list of love and caring, and that's a beautiful thing. Glad she's doing well! When I'm sick, I'm always happy to have some of my own chicken soup (with either matzo balls or wild rice and corn in it) out of the freezer. So when friends aren't feeling well, that's what I tend to make for them.

It all sounds good to me!! I trust you, Ant-nee...

I'm a big fan of Nori in Caldwell, which is probably all of 10-15 mins of local driving from W.O. It's at 406 Bloomfield Ave., phone is 973-403-2400. My friends who are serious sushi eaters are always happy, as am I, 'tho I'm far less adventurous than they are. And although I find their prices reasonable in general, here's a hint: their lunch special is GREAT cost-wise, and they even offer it on Saturdays. Something like $12.95 for soup, shumai and two rolls. And I'm certain that it's BYO, as they have quite a lineup of empty sake bottles on their front window ledge!

GOODNESS...could it really be THAT simple???

I thought Tommy said Friday's weren't good... I'm ok on these Thurs/Fridays: 7/1,2,8,16,22,23
-
I haven't been to either!

Wanted to float this back to the top...any dates y'all want to throw out? I'd be game for a Thurs or Fri night if it's in the first week of July. Away 7/10-15 and again 7/27 for a few days. Antnee? Tommy? Fatcat?

FRESCA!!! It always reminds me of my grandparents (both long gone) when they lived in Ft Lauderdale...it seemed like that's all that ANYONE ever drank down there. Still love it to this day. Agreed on mint juleps--finally had one at Churchill Downs last year. And the half iced tea/half lemonade is another personal favorite.

And I just loved Mark's music--very talented guy!!! Maybe he could be our official eG troubador?
