  1. that's the one. I was very surprised how nice the shower was and how helpful the staff was. We started the shower menu with a choice of soups, then you had a choice of cobb salad, grilled vegetable platter, or grilled chicken. Then there was choice of sorbets or cheese cake for dessert. It was pretty nice considering the person hosting the shower was on a very tight budget.
  2. I don't know how budget minded you need to be, but I recently went to a bridal shower at a place in Paramus right on the Fair Lawn border called Good Times. I was hesitant when I pulled up to the place.... It looked like a diner. However, the inside of the restaurant was much nicer than the exterior. The shower was held in the back and was partitioned off from the rest of the diners. The staff was very helpful and the food was quite good. The person that organized the shower stated that it was extremely reasonably priced for the quality of the food and service received.
  3. Count me in for 3 people. A fellow foodie friend will be joining my husband and I. By the way, I dined at The Village Green with 13 friends last Saturday night. I tried/shared just about everything that was offered on the menu. Everything was wonderful! Officially met the owner and chef, who were extremely nice and accommodating to our group.
  4. I have heard and enjoyed Mark Sganga's music a few times; at Cafe Panache once, and I think also at Grandma's Cheesecake Company in Ridgewood which I don't think exists anymore. Having live music for our dinner will be a treat. I believe he is a friend of one of my good friends who is also a musician. So, maybe you know my friend as well. Small world. Looking forward to this event.

  6. Will you be planning a set menu, or will you have choices for each course as they do on their standard menu?
  7. I am definately coming along with my husband. I will let you know if there will be any others joining us. What time will we begin?
  8. I would be interested in doing the 5-course or 4-course on a "work" night. The cost for the 5-course is $48.00 pp and the 4-course is $40.00 pp. I don't remember exactly what the 7-course is, but I am going there this Saturday and can find out.
  9. I am definately interested in this event, and I would be bringing at least one guest.

  11. Are the egullet events/dinners open to any forum member? I agree that The Village Green is fantastic. I am having my husband's 40th party there next Saturday, and the owner, Linda, has been wonderful. Every time I go to the Village Green, I wonder why other restaurants in the area haven't adopted a similar menu offering. It is so nice to be in a restaurant that believes in quality over quantity.

    Zarole

I went to Zarole in Ridgewood last night and was dissapointed. The menu was exactly the same as it was when I went last fall. All the choices were heavy and autumnal. I thought that their menu changed to reflect the seasons. Anyway, the food was bland and the service was even more bland. I always thought of it as one of the better restaurants in Ridgewood, but not any more. Is it that once a restaurant procures a reputation, the restaurant owners are afraid to change anything and it becomes stagnant......?
  13. I went back to the Village Green last night for another fantastic dinner. Their official grand opening will be next week. I was told by the staff that they will continue with their tasting menu format. Yipee!
  14. Which is better? Chengdu 46 or China 46?
  15. I work for a construction company, and plans came through the office for the construction of PF Chang's in West New York. I have never been to one, but have heard good things despite the fact that it is a chain.
  16. Yellow Fin and Blue in Surf City are nice for New American Fare. Green Gables in Beach Haven also very nice. There is a newer restaurant called Sweet Vidalia that I have heard nice things about. The last time I went for Italian in LBI, I went to Raimondo's.
  17. There is a new restaurant in Ridgewood - La Cambusa. What restaurant's space did it replace? Also, has anyone been there yet or to there restaurant in Fair Lawn? I am dining there on Friday night with some friends.
  18. I had a hard time deciding what to write. Part of me wanted to fib and tell you all how awful it was so I could keep this little gem all to myself. But I must be honest with you! Run, don't walk to The Village Green. We had an excellent meal here - excellent concept in small plates/tasting menu choices, excellent service, courses paced perfectly. I will definately become a regular here.
  19. Go to ironmonkey.com for hours and sample menu
  20. My husband and I are going to The Village Green tonight. After reading all of the comments posted, I am sure it will be an enjoyable evening.
  21. After reading several conflicting reviews over the years, I decided to try Rosemary and Sage in Riverdale for myself. What a dissapointment! We walked in and stood standing in the entrance alone while we waited to be greeted as staff rushed by. I thought the menu was very limited and overpriced for what you received. They recited a list of specials and then when we ordered, they stated that they had run out of about half of them, but it was early in the evening.... And The service was rushed - I don't mean we were rushed, I mean the staff was rushing about whizzing past you . Possibly understaffed that night??? We skipped desert because we wanted to have dessert back at our home and the waiter (possibly one of the owners) was visibly dissapointed that we were not ordering dessert and coffee. They didn't even say goodbye, thank you, etc. as we got up to leave after paying our check. BRRRR!

    Chakra

It is ironic. Chakra means center of spiritual energy, and it seems that "energy" is the main ingredient that this place is lacking in my opinion.

    Chakra

FYI to Tommy They do have Dom by the glass - $40.00 each.

    Chakra

The flowers are orchids. They were not given out on departure during my second visit. Bartenders/Wait Staff are still sleep walking. Aahh - This place has such potential but there is something important missing.

    Chakra

I am going back tonight with a group. I reserved a large booth which has lots of pillows and fabrics that seperate the tables. I am looking forward to trying more of their menu offerings. For information on the menu (without prices) go to their website: www.chakrarestaurant.com
