2003 Marcarini Nebbiolo Langhe “Lasarin” - A dark, yet very clear, ruby color. Nose shows predominately cherry and herbs. Flavors also of cherries and herbs, but also some red berry, flowers, and a little bit of licorice. Kind of tight, with some grippy but fine tannins. Finish is of medium length, and is fairly clean. This is the first 2003 Piedmont wine I have tried, and it did not strike me as overly ripe. There is decent balance here. Not overly complex or profound, just a serviceable weeknight pizza wine. $17.

All the best,

Jean
