While driving down Schraalenburgh Road in Closter yesterday, I was taken by surprise. After almost 2 years of laying fallow and being overgrown by vegetation, the old site of Il Ruscello has been razed and a brand new, beautiful building stands there in its place. The restaurant is called Harvest Bistro, and from the outside it looks quite pretty. Looking in on a cold weeknight it seemed pretty busy, and the parking lot had about 25 cars as well.

Haven't heard a whisper about this place, no mention in Rosie's THWR either;

Has anybody anything to report on this new, promising-looking place in an area in dire need of good restaurants?

Don't know the particulars, but some info:

Has anyone an idea of the menu, ambience, types of food here, etc?

(Seems there is a remarkable lack of Egullet interest in a potentially promising restaurant in an area with a conspicuous lack of interesting restaurants!!)

This place was just featured on The Genuine Article with Gordon Elliott-- they were actually talking about the use of Adirondack Furniture in the restaurant, an unusual touch. Looked quite beautiful. I will be going there soon!!

This place finally got reviewed by the New York Times yesterday; overall, a nice review, he said that the place is gorgeous inside, very busy, and gave it an overall "Good" rating. David Corcoran said that it has some kinks to work out, probably attributed to the "just opened" blues;

This place is yet to be discovered by any Egulleters, though!

It seems that some Eg-ers have posted on other threads briefly about their Harvest Bistro experiences. Any first hand info about this place, whether brief or detailed, would be appreciated. After all, it's 1 of only about 4 serious restaurants in this part of the county.
