hehe, It's a good thing I didn't sit Tommy after you..... sorry I couldn't get you in Tommy...This NYT review has really made reservations crazy. Hope to see you next week....

We plan to open more restaurants in the future...there is no doubt we will look at some Bergen towns...Menton you are right about smack in the middle of downtown being expensive in Montclair...we looked there...instead we took a spot 4-5 blocks east where the real estae is nearly so desirable...I now pay for 1600 square feet what others pay for 800-900 sq ft just a few blocks up...I'm sure similiar deals could be made in Bergen. Tommy was definitely right when he said that we have slim profit margins and need to be careful. Not having a liquor license makes a huge difference. If there are some affluent Bergen towns with liquor licenses left I'd be interested.

not too mention rent is cheaper in Essex overall compared to Bergen....

Thanks for all the support...It's been crazy around here.....

I have tried Sesame and it's pretty decent....both times were for lunch and the dishes I ordered....(General Tso's Chicken and Shredded Beef Szechuan style) were both better then your average Chinese Take out....for $6.60 it was worth it...very big portions also...I didn't finish it all either time....I would like to see what the dinner menu is all about....

We made sure we had several other items in house in case someone didn't really eat a certain food. For instance, we had a couple of customers who didn't eat Lamb at all. We substituted Filet Mignon and everyone was happy. We also told everyone coming to come with an open mind but definitely let us know if there are any dietary considerations to be made Overall we wanted to make sure the xperience was great for all who attended therefore we needed to change some dishes for some people. No problem at all for us. We were just glad there was so much interest in a blind tasting. When I first thought of the idea I wasn't sure if there was an appetite for it (no pun intended). Our family loves tastings and figured we would give it a shot.....thankfully there are a lot of other people out there who love tastings....

I assure you, it's not really a field test...We called the Tasting "A Fall Fascination" and they were 5 new fall courses that were going to be rolled over to our regular menu. If for some reason some of the dishes people didn't rave about we might not be putting them on thus the "field test". 4 of the 5 dishes are definitely being put on....We would like to open up every season with a new special tasting instead of just adding them to our menu. We think of it as a fun way to open up the season and in return let people try 5 brand new courses from our chef. It went amazingly well and we will have a Winter Tasting in January. Dates have not been set yet. Of course in the mean time we have a 5 course tasting menu for New Years Eve.

I have been to Aozora for lunch several times and the sushi is always excellent.....authentic japanese dishes are great too....can't understand the servers but who needs to for lunch anyway....I go once every week or two for lunch....I need to try dinner there one of these days.....If only I could get out for dinner....
-
Thanks Glenn...We were very excited to see the new review....

Aozora is good for Sushi and other authentic Hot Japanese Dishes....Dmetris is is good for Mediterranean....His Homemade Mozzarella is excellent and his bacon wrapped dates are quite a treat.

I spoke with Open Table...the software looks great and it really does enhance service....now the question is the cost...around $1500 to install and a $200 a month service charge.....
-
hehe, It's my job.... I try to remember as many customers as possible. Although, I am looking into what OpenTable costs and have a meeting with them next week.

I replied on a Rutt's Hut posting once....gotta love that place....

Tommy, Our site will be up and running this Friday. There are a few things we are working out with our developer and it does need to be fixed. That being said we decided to put something out there for people to see. As of Friday you can visit us at www.fascinorestaurant.com Once again it's a work in progress and should be completed within the next few weeks but at least you can start to see something. Glenn, I apologize about not putting plates down correctly. Honestly our computer system is a little screwy with position numbers. The servers know off the top of their head but the bussers read the ticket....we will remedy that as soon as possible... Thanks, Anthony

is there somewhere online you can read the NYT report on Noveau Sushi?

Thanks for the compliments...and the CD is actually my grandfather playing the sax. He was in a band for years before giving it up to become a general contractor. His Jazz feel is timeless and we have it in our CD player all the time.

One interesting adventurous place is Clyde's. I have tried several dishes there that I never was able to find again. Their specials have included, Wild Boar, Zebra, and Kangaroo. You never know what you are going to get when you go there.
