Born: Seattle. Raised: near Anchorage. Background: Irish-American/New England. Education: Portland, Ore. (my first pizza), Honolulu (Asian cooking), Berkeley (many cuisines). Trade(s): Writing and graphic design. Came to New York at 24 (felt like I had reached my spiritual home). Lived six blocks from Chinatown when the wave of regional chefs arrived, and made the most of them. Moved to Connecticut. Retired.
