  1. Hello from San Diego, California! Glad to have found and joined the group. I stumbled upon this forum when Googling for different types of Chinese rice wines. I'm originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and moved to the US 3 years ago after I got married. I'm a housewife and have never cooked in my life prior to my move. The abundance and varieties of food in Malaysia is what I miss the most, and I cook some of those local delicacies whenever I can. I always try different recipes of the same dishes to find the ones that best mimic the flavor that I was used to back home. While some are almost there, some just don't cut it. That's when I discovered that those recipes have been modified to suit the American tastebuds. I'm of Chinese descent and ironically I've never been able to cook a decent Chinese meal (that's according to my husband who's also a Malaysian Chinese). I shall not give up and will continue to learn and try new recipes. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Sandy
