    Sushi Yasuda

Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to have omakase at sushi yasuda which has big ratio of sashimi over sushi? I know he's famous for the sushi rice but it's just I have health problem with rice. But I'm planning to go with my bf who would eat anything...although he also usually prefers sashimi over sushi. I'be been to sushi yasuda before but only ordered a la carte and sat at table. With my specific omakase in mind, if it does possible (not hurting chef's feeling and I would still have great meal) , should we book a table or sit at the bar? Thank you.
  2. Have you guys tried Ipoh on Elridge St in manhattan near the F train East Broadway stop? I heard good stuffs about it and wondering what's your opinion. Thanks.
  3. Thanks all for the fast replies...I scored Gordon Ramsay at RHR for lunch. St John and Hakkasan haven't made a res yet, as they are still maybe, esp Hakkasan. So afternoon tea best is Claridges?? Looking for amazing posh place and of course good food. Indian I prefer cheap and authentic..not looking for fine dining. Oh, FYI, I'm a light eater, I prefer quality over quantity
  4. Hi all, I'm visiting London next week for 5 days for the first time. I'd like suggestions on restaurants that could give me a "wow" and the best London offers that is not available in NYC, as I live in NYC where I'm very satisfied with choices we have here. I don't want to end up in a tourist trap places and would like experts'opinions. I did some research and came up with: 1. Fine Dining at Gordon Ramsay at RHR (How is it compared to say Alain Ducasse or Jean Georges?) 2. Best Afternoon tea, is it still Brown's? Please compared with Claridges, Savoy, Orangery. Has to be excellent food, ambience and posh decor. 3. St. John 4. Need best authentic indian food 5. How's London's dimsum compared to NYC's? I think the best in nYC is Ping on Mott's for the authentic one. 6. Trendy, young places...heard about Nahm, Hakkassan..or others? 7. Need input on best lounge FYI I'm in mid 20s. Any opinions are greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Craft

Thank you all for the suggestions. First, I really like the room itself, it's ellegant but still relaxing. Five of us ordered and shared: Apps: Quail, Foie Grass, Hamachi, spinach salad. We thought there's nothing special about apps, except the quail that's pretty good. Main: Skate (the best dish we tried), Sirloin, Lamb, Hanger steak, Ruby Red Shrimp. Everything is so-so. Sides: Morrels mushroom (very good), carrots (okay) and asparagus (over burned). Dessert: Chocolate souffle (good but Eleven Madison Park's is lots better), 2 of lemon panna cotta (not good, the custard is too rich and destroy the lemon), Roasted banana with caramel ice cream (nothing special). On the way out, we saw people ordered tasting menu and looks better than what we ordered. I really like the restaurant to bring people for nice conversation but maybe order something else next time.

    Craft

Hi, I am new to this website and love it. Anyone been to Craft recently? I have read about the recent posted but need more suggestions. Would you please tell me what not to be missed at Craft? it's my first time. Please tell me all the recommended dishes. And should we order from tasting menu or a la carte? I'm going with 5 friends. Hope to see your reply. Thank you so much. Vienna
  8. Mermaid Inn is indeed wonderful, excellent seafood, very fresh and tasty, New England atmosphere, bargain for price(entrees are all $20 and below). The front room has a bar and the atmosphere is very bar like and very loud. On the other hand, back room is very romantic, red brick walls, candles and wine bottles everywhere, facing a small garden which is relaxing. We sat there and our waitress is very accomodating. Water were serve all the time and she asked us if we need anything else. Me and my SO had 1/2 dozen oyster from the raw bar (3 of West Coast's and 3 of East Coast's) which were really fresh like they've just been picked up from the sea. For other apps, we also had clam fritters (very crunchy with a creamy dip and onion hint on it, which I found a little too creamy for me, I'm a light eater), last apps was so great spinach and blue crab dip with perfectly air crisp garlic bread. For entree, we shared nively done grilled dorade fish, which served on the top of spinach sauteed with red paprika, tomato, onion. spicy garlic cubes with red sour sauce (which my SO said it's very New England). They don't serve dessert but gave everyone a tasty small cup filled with chocolate pudding with cream on top. The fun has not ended there, while handing us the check in an old sardine can, they gave us fortune teller fish in plastic sheet to be put on top of our palm and the moves indicate our personality. Definitely a must to try, I left feeling like "a robber"
