Yes. I bought a brand new FoodSaver machine a few weeks ago from Futureshop, and I used the roll that it comes with. (Note, I'm a new member, so I can only post 2 times/day. I can't post again today).

I experienced the exact same flaking. In my case: 72 hour short ribVacuum packed in FoodSaver55.5C in a 22Qt cambro containerAnova immersion circulatorOne side of the foodsaver packaging, on the outside only, was completely covered in those plastic bits.
