  1. Confirmed my reservation for Saturday night. Very much looking forward to it. I will also be in Cheltenham on Friday night and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for somewhere casual (fish & Chips, a great burger or good pub food) don't really want to end up in one the the chain places! Any suggestions welcome. Also any recommended pubs - I am considering The Beehive and Kemble Brewery Inn. I like a good pint and decent wine not to fussed on bangin' tunes so again any suggestions welcome. Cheers Martin.
  2. I decided on Mugaritz and have just got a confirmation. I have also picked the Guggnehiem for lunch (cant resist a bargain). Its all taking shape! Slightly off topic - i like the sound of the fireworks - any more info about time / location etc please Phild. Cheers Martin
  3. I will be staying in Bilbao in August and hope to visit one of Arzak - Akalare - Mugaritz. If you had one chance where would you pick? Athe moment I am favouring Mugaritz but would have selected Arzak then Akalare prior to my recent research. Please share your views. Thanks, Martin
  4. I have a reservation in June. It can't come quickly enough. I am considering giving the chefs table in tetbury a visit also while in the area - does anyone have any views?
  5. Gave Abode a try on Wednesday. The place was busy, at £12 for three courses (and a week on the TV) not that suprising. The food was good, if a little slow in service. The matched wines were also good. It came in at a little over £40. A bargain!
  6. I had a reservation in March for dinner. I selected Corrigans based on the highly positive reviews. I booked the train, got a hotel and set off. It was a fiasco from start to end. Drinks we did not order, poor cocktails and general confusion. Best of all, we didn't get to eat due to them not having our table available. Considering I had chosen this venue for a birthday celebration it was a very disappointing experience.
  7. Pied a Terre do a post theatre menu. I also quite like Amuse Bouche - Poland St, Soho for drinks (good value champagne). Sunday Lunch at Tamarind is decent value on a buy one get one free offer.
  8. Hello all I had a fine lunch at Le Moulin de Mougins in June 08. All aspects of the meal were very good and I would say, based on my one visit, a comfortable two star experience . Does anyone know the reason for the deletion. Martin
  9. Has anyone been lately? Just interested to see how the menu is developing with spring on the way and the possibility of a visit in a week or two.
  10. Going back a few years, I seem to recal Beechers Brook restaurant in Liverpool was owned by a mastercher winner. I had a look in 1999 good food guide and the cooking mark was 5. A decent mark, seeing some very decent 1 star places score 6 or lower now. The chef was called David Cooke but the restaurant closed a number of years ago.
  11. Looking at the pat site I notice they have a post theatre menu. Is there time for canapes / amuse / pre dessert or is it three courses served up asap? It seems good value at £40ish. Has anyone got any info?
  12. Hello all, this is my first post. I went to juniper towards the end of October - Lunch was about £15 and was good value for money. A trio of tasters were followed by pork with frog’s legs & scallops with cauliflower and caramel. A good fresh passion fruit sorbet followed before mains of sea bass and John Dory which were very fresh and a good size. On the down side the food could have been hotter and some of the components were slightly lacking polish (spaetzli) I passed on dessert but was served complimentary pre desert of duo of plumb with sorbet. The service was good and for the cost the meal was decent value. Not sure I would be willing to spend £70 or £80 on tasting menus however. Cheers, Martin
