  1. Not on the westside, but my favorite place for southern fried chicken is Johnny Reb's: http://www.johnnyrebs.com/JR_Main.html My favorite location is in North Long Beach, which recently reopened after a grease fire gutted the building (mmmm....grease....). The also have locations in Victorville and Orange County, which I've never been to. Because they make it to order, it takes a little longer than the other items on the menu. I usually order some fried green tomatoes to tide me over. : Just be careful with your first bite. Because it's fresh from the fryer, that first crunch releases hot steam from the moist chicken. Cheers, Michael

    Urasawa

What a great post! I love the pictures. I had an opportunity to eat at Urasawa a few years ago, and it was quite a memorable meal. I remember saying to the waiter that it must be an amazing place to work, and he said under his breath, "You really don't want to work here." I guess a monks life is not for everybody! I didn't whip out my camera, but I posted a bite-by-bite description here: http://imoralist.blogspot.com/2006/06/uras...akase-menu.html Cheers, Michael
  3. Looking at "A Day at El Bulli," it looks like the reservations are divided between people in Spain and people outside the country, and between first-timers and the el Bulli experienced. Those four groups are then divided into reservations that request a specific day (like birthdays and anniversaries) and those that are completely open. I lucked out, and got in on my first try, which I wrote about here: http://imoralist.blogspot.com/2008/07/dinn...ere-part-1.html Good luck! Michael By the way, how does this work exactly? I'll try to get a reservation at el Bulli for the first time, and I don't really care about the exact day I'll go, can I just send an email stating that any day is fine or does one have to specify an exact reservation day/time? ←
