I've had one for a while and have tried the salad greens, mixed herbs, and international basil. The salad greens grew very well, but I wasn't impressed with the salad. The lettuce was too wimpy. The mixed herbs didn't grow well, some never sprouted. But the international basil is fantastic! I'm on my third basil kit.
  2. I use them for lettuce with good luck, and also for bananas. I've not had good luck with tomatoes, plums, and other fruits.
  3. This explains a lot. I bought some Fage last week and it was not the same texture at all. I thought it was fluffy, which was not what I was used to.
  4. The only purchased hummus I like is from Flying Frog Cafe in Asheville NC, which they also sell in area markets. It's a very dense hummus. I can't stand a fluffy or soft hummus. I make mine from scratch most of the time, starting with dried not canned. I'm glad to see I'm not alone in hummus preferences
  5. Hi, I'm new and also live in East Tenn We had relatives from Holland in recently and they prepared a tomato pie for us. She started with puff pastry, which she spread with chopped sundried tomatoes in oil. Then she covered it with fresh chopped tomatoes, then added a layer of crumbled goat cheese, and sprinkled fresh herbs over that. She baked it until the pastry was done. It was heavenly! Very simple, but also elegant.
