About Me
I am a 49 yr old male living in Australia. I grew up in New Zealand and enjoyed all the abundance of foods available. My mother was a passionate baker of confectionary and cakes but insisted on cooking meat to well done every time. My father was challanged by boiling an egg. I was not allowed in the kitchen as i had a habit of going straight to the preserved ginger, dried apricots and marichino cheerys. I moved to Australia and am now married with 4 children who have all grown up and moved out or studying. Since arriving in Australia i have been a passionate cook. I preserve , pickle, make home brew and tend a awesome vege garden and orchard. Unfortunately i have suffered from anosmia (no sence of smell) all my life. I also cannot taste anything other than salt, sweet , bitter, sour. I can tell the difference between a tomato and a strawbeery by the texture in my mouth. Garlic bread tastes like hot buttered bread. This condition has not detered me from my love of cooking. I love to cook for my wife and kids and they are my biggest fans and critics. Everyone loves someone else cooking for them. I have just constructed a woodfired brick oven and have cooked all manner of dishes in it. I am currently trying to perfect bread, the baggette in particular. I am a high school teacher and a plumber and gasfitter. I am currently working as a self employed plumber allowing me to rush home to tend food, proof bread etc.
cheers
