  1. I'm still searching for this dessert. I thought I would ask again and see if any new people out there might recognize it. It is a layered dessert with yellowish-orange layers with the turmeric in it, and brown layers with the cinnamon and nuts in it. It was cut into squares and is very sweet. Any ideas?
  2. The colors are yellow and brown. The yellow being the part that has the turmeric on it. The brown is from the cinnamon. The colors are not even layers of yellow and brown. They are swirled. Thanks for your help. It also used to be sold near schools in Amman.
  3. No it is not Harisa/Namoura/Bassbousa or Sfoof. It is not cakelike, the consistency is similar to halawa. It is not found in the sweet shops there. It used to be sold in the old city in Amman. It's possible that it also goes by a different name, we are not sure.
  4. Has anyone heard of a dessert called Dahdah? I have some family members that used to buy it all the time in Amman many years ago. It is multi-colored. The bottom layer is a mix of semolina and turmeric, making it yellow. Then there is a layer of cinnamon with some chopped nuts. These layers alternate giving the dessert alternating layers of colors. I got to try it a couple years ago, but there are no more bakeries that make it. Has anyone ever heard of it before? Does it go by a different name? Is it still sold anywhere? Any recipes for it out there?
