I just read an article which reiterates the displeasure many Japanese chefs (even some who were awarded stars) have about the Michelin guide. Interestingly (to me), one chef pointed out that the guide goes somewhat against cultural norms "against bragging and putting others down."
That same chef declined to be listed in the guide, as did a few others, the article points out.
saw the ny times article as well... wondering where i can get my hands on the goethe magazine that offered alternative listings!
best english translated guide, anyone?

i emailed when i first saw it on BT and requested information primarily about the cost... here's what i received:
The cost of the culinary program is 500.00 plus applicable taxes for a day
in the kitchen at a choice of 7 A-list restaurants.. followed by a
customized tasting menu . Additional tasting menus are 150.00 each plus
taxes.
Bookings can be made by calling 416.399.1658

i want to go visit the church of light in osaka and am wondering if there's anything in the vicinity that might be remarkable foodwise?
also, is there any way i can get a schedule of the Kintetsu-bus to Kasugaoka-koen bus stop so i know how frequently the bus shows up? i unfortunately can't read japanese and there is no english site for the kintetsu bus.
