  1. Bu Pun Su: It's not so hard to find El Poblet, even if in this next 2 monthes i would avoid this part of Spain, full of people and tourists.
  2. Is there any problem in my ALIAS? I see that here you can't disagree and that just some opinions are the correct one's. So i will write down 1000 time: Don't disagree with someone with more post than you and that doesn't hide under some soccer-inspired alias. 2 don't fight if one doesn't want, and i don't want. You are smarter, you know more than me and you don't hide. Regards, BlAuGrAnA (proud of his alias)
  3. vserna, It's wonderfull for you to be a good critic on restaurant, and i think it's a very nice job. But i think butterfly has just exagerated on his comment. I still can argue that Txistu is not the best place IMO to eat meat in Madrid but it's MY opinion and a forum is to share opinions, i prefer Julian de Tolosa in Madrid than Txistu. It's true that i just went 2 times to Txistu and maybe it was a bad day. And if i compare Txistu with EL Sahillo in Vigo for me their is no colour. I think a forum is not a competition of "quien la tiene mas larga" but a nice and friendly place where we can share our views. And i have to recognise that all your recommendations are usualy wonderfull and i try to follow the places. Regards, Blaugrana
  4. Not to disagree, but really Txistu is a normal average place in Madrid, meat is not so good if compare with THOUSAND of restaurants all over Spain and even in Madrid. It's a football players star hide out for dinner. With Fabio Capello as the main embassador, like it could be Asador Donostiara and many others in Madrid. To be honest paying the price they ask for their meat i would rather go to places like El Sahillo in Vigo (Galicia) or many other places in Valencia where i would find the same meat or better, with a better service and a better price. Well if i was Beckham service would be for sure best at Txistu. So yes Txistu is an expensive quality/price even for Madrid. But we won't deny it's a typicall place to go.
  5. Just went today to eat after a few monthes. Casa Montaña is a good place to go even if the food is not fantastic. The best of Casa Montaña is the wine list. We tried a Valencian wine Bilogia, because they didn't had a Trilogia from Casa los Frailes. Good quality wine for a decent but no more food. It was a casual business lunch so we let people of Casa Montaña choose and we had almost the same order than docsconz. I think it's not a bad place to go in Vakencia, but more typicall and diferent for me would be JOMI in Nazaret that is a PLACE to go, if you like "Salazones" At the end a bit of deception and more when we had to call this morning to say no to a table we had at Ca Sento.
  6. As Rogelio said, Valencia and Spain are not France. Here kids are welcome in most of the restaurant. So don't worry for that. For the kids i would suggest to go to the America's Cup port, they will be able to run and see the Veles i Vents building. Guilliver and all the old river of Turia are good with kids. You can hire some bikes and make a tour to the TURIA http://www.culturia.org/ To have dinner i would suggest some new places i didn't mentioned before. Some will be to go with kids and some other will be just a way to update people that want to go to Valencia. First AVOID all restaurants of America's Cup Port, price are crazy and quality is ... well isn't. The worst of all is BEST OF ITALY, followed by BAMBO DE MAR both to avoid. The only one who might be ok would be PASTORET DEL MAR and depending on the waiters. I would recommend: Manga Sushi Bar (Conde Altea 13): Just in front of the RIFF a delicious Sushi Bar, Elena who owns it was ex singer of a pop group and used to work in another wonderfull sushi place in Valencia SUSHI CRU (Dr. Zariñena 3), i recommend to let her chose for you if you're a real sushi lover. La Gallineta (conde de altea 7): In the same street for me one of the surprises of Valencial. I wanted to go several times but we never maneged to do so. But since i tested for the first time i must say it's a place to go. Really good service and food. I will make a detailed post soon, for me a place to visit in Valencia. Santa Cruz (Cuenca, 19): Good marisco, and good quality price. I'm from galicia so for me almost no place is better than there for Marisco but Santa Cruz help me to forget that i'm far away from where i was born. The Gaspacho Manchego de Mariscos is the dish not to miss. Usualy fully booked for lunch time.
  7. Well after all that reading and raji comments i will try Yasuda, i will only be one week to NY so i will just make one test I think raji long post was nice to read and helps to understand the way of thinking of sushi chef's and i can understand their way of thinking, it's like when i see foreigners that want to test a Paella and ask me where is the seafood OMG!!!! to this people i won't really make my best dish, i can be wrong but it's a way of work that some can like and some other won't.
  8. Well at the end the person who is coming with me has decided to go to Kabuki so i will be able to give a brief impressions of my dinner. I’m a proud fan of the Japanese cuisine and really waiting to see the result of this mix not in photos but in my mouth. Still a pity that La Broche was fully booked for tonight. Sorry for this OFF TOPIC with my madrid trip, so back to Valencia food. Please feel free to ask about restaurants in Valencia and i will try to give my opinion. Regards
  9. Rogelio, I would also suggest you to go to CASA JOMI, it's a place that could be in any Almodovar movie and they have a wonderfull wine list. The place is not trendy and not fashion but you will find many people from banks going there, it's not really to have dinner but more to have some "tapas" if we can call that "tapas" Well i'm on the waiting list so i hope to be able to have a table, but i think it gonna be hard. Some other place to go to Madrid?
  10. Well i will give some comments on Valencia restaurants. Ca Sento can be a wonderfull restaurant but Price/quality???? I think Sento thinks he's too smart and price is sometime a bit up to what you really get. Casa Montaña is a wonderfull place and i think if you can eat in the table between the 2 spaces (old taberna and new and modern room) you will be delighted. Casa Montaña has one of the best wine list in Valencia. Seu Xerea for me don't make points to be on a Valencia good restaurant list. Pretencious and sometimes even not so good (i went 2 weeks ago). I will recomend Joaquin Schmitd in Visitacion 7, for me one of the best restaurants in Valencia BUT ... it will depend on the mood of Joaquin and how is the market. He makes a menu for every day so you will never know what you'll get, sometimes brilliant some others not but a restaurant to visit. I will tell you also a small restaurant not snoby where you can have a good meal at a cheap price: LA CARAGOLA (Pza. Mosen Sorell,9) in front os Mosen Sorell small market Carmen will make some easy and simple meal with a good quality and a cheap price, nice for small budgets that look for price/quality To finish 2 other nice and funny places: MAIPI (Maestro Jose Serrano) near TORRIJOS. A place for simple food but good quality. And in Cabanyal : CASA JOMI Castell de Pop, 13 (In front of Guardia Civil) you will have their mojama and hueva the best of Valencia in a kitch place. Hope to help you more and in 2 days i will be at la broche in Madrid.
