  1. Everything we tried was very good. Onion soup and Brandade de Morue starters were done great. Leg of Lamb cooked perfectly came with a nice gorgonzola polenta and Moule Frites were very tasty, some of the best fries around. Desserts were wonderful, especially the lemon tart. They opened live today, so I would get over there and check it out asap. The place is beautiful.

  2. Went to Fuji for the 1st time on Saturday night. Most of the food was very good. Wasn't really craving sushi, so we opted for the dinner menu. Miso soup and the salad were very good, as were the gyoza appetizer. I had the sizzling steak which was accompanied by a hot stone to complete the cooking on. My wife ordered the sea bass, pan seared in a garlic sauce. She took one bite and said she couldn't eat it because it was way too salty. She tried it without the sauce and said it was still to salty. I tasted it and agreed it was inedible. It was cooked fine, right temperature, just way too salty.

The waitress came over to check on us, and my wife told her the problem. She said sorry and walked away. Another waitress came over and asked how we were, and she told her the same thing. We shared my steak and asked for the check when they took away our plates (with almost all of the sea bass on it. They brought the check which had her fish still on it, and we just chuckled and laughed it off. They did however charge us for a california roll, which we ordered but never got. I told the waitress and she took the check back. A 3rd waitress, who seemed like she was in charge, came back and said that everybody likes the sea bass, and maybe next time we should get it without the sauce, (which was not the problem). She then brought the check back and explained that they took half the price of the bass off. Kind of strange, maybe they were just half sorry.

I will give Fuji another try, since everything else we had was good, but in good faith, maybe they should have comped the un-eaten meal. She basically told us she was sorry we didn't like it without admitting any responsibility. I should have had her taste it.

  3. Went the other night and had a very good meal. The wings were crispy and flavorful. We tried both the bourbon bbq and Fiery wings, although the fiery ones were not spicy at all. Waitress made a point of saying they were really really hot, but maybe they forgot the hot peppers that were supposed to be mixed in with the sauce. Didn't see any.

Had the beef on wick which was delicious. Great house made roll and really good fries. My friend had the fish tacos, which he declred very good. They had Philly Brewing Co. Walt Wit Ale on tap, which was delicious, served with a lemon slice. The biscuits were also tasty. An overall enjoyable experience.

  4. Coming to town in a few weeks with my wife and 4 year old daughter and would like some tips. We are staying at the Fairmount on M st. Saturday night we are going to 2 Amy's, as they are a customer of mine, and Sunday brunch is at the hotel. Looking for some recs for Friday dinner and Saturday lunch. We go pretty much anywhere in Phila. with my daughter, so we don't want themed chains at all. Just some good places that can be fun too.

  5. I was there too, it was great! 1 Hour of cocktails with white and red sangria and wines with the canapes. The tuna and the crab empanadas were the highlights. Every course was paired with a different Souverain wine. Service and food were great, the pumpkin milkshake was served in a edible chocolate cup.

There was a mixup at our table, where our 6 were seated at an 8 top, and there was a party of eight who needed the table. We were asked politely if we would move, and all 6 of us were rewarded with a bottle of wine to take home. Classy move on their part.

  6. Finally paid a long overdue visit to Snackbar last night. Best meal I've had in quite a while. Service was great, food was great, wine was great. We shared the boneless wings and the mussels to start, and they both were awesome. Wanted to ask for a spoon for the mussel broth after the great bread was gone.

Shared the burger with mushrooms and a sunny side up egg and the salmon next. Egg made a great burger topping, almost like a sauce. Fries were out of this world, served with spicy ketchup and aioli. Salmon had a perfect crispy skin on it, with bok choy and mango. Very good.

Too full for dessert or cheese, but will return soon for more. Thanks Johnny Mac for a great meal.

  7. The Sunrise diner is the one in the town of Jim Thorpe, and was closed when I was there like 3 weeks ago. Its been for sale for a long time. The pizza/sandwich place and the Mexican place across from the Inn at Jim Thorpe are both good. The steak place next to the diner had good bar food, but the thought of a 20 oz. steak dinner for $12.95 kind of scared me. Black Bread cafe was unremarkable, and was overpriced for what it was.

  8. The right side where the diner was is still set up as a diner, just with a menu more like the "Comtinental". The left part is more loungey with high tables and another bar. I beleive the Steak and Eggs was only $17. There were also burgers, roast beef and chicken sandwiches and a good looking crabcake sandwich. Some of the other apps included sashimi tuna, ribs amd mussels. There were 3 soups, 4 or 5 salads, and a cavatelli lobster special.

  9. Attended a Friend's and Family event at Silk City last night. Great looking menu, everything under $20. Simlilar menu to North 3rd, everything sounded really good. Had bbq pork empanadas, and crab potstickers to start, along with good mojitos and pomegrante margarita's. Wife had the pepper and thyme crusted tuna with brie risotto and spinach, while I had the steak and eggs. Slices of medium rare hanger steak on top of mashed potatoes in a red wine sauce, topped with a fried egg. Everything was delicious and the place looks great.

  10. Stopped in to pick up lunch the other day. Nice selection of sandwiches on the blackboard behind the counter. Had the Cuban sandwich which was very good. They have a small alto-shaam that they roast the pork in. Great grainy mustard and equally good pickles made it even better. Highly recommended.
