  1. I like Kumo in Ridgewood (Franklin Ave I think it is after train tressle from Godwin). Very consistent...I've always had great sushi experiences there--nothing ever questionable as freshness goes. And it's BYOB.

Thanks for the info...I'm always looking for great Chinese food. It's so hard--I can't eat from our local take out places anymore--it's always so greasy and I'm too grossed out now :) Has anyone ever tried Cheng Du 46? It's upscale Szechuan (sp?) and Cantonese I think, and it's my absolute FAVORITE Chinese food. Go there and try the Pork with Jingling Bells or the Chicken and Shrimp rolls...they also have delicious spicy dumplings for an app. We had our rehearsal dinner there 4 years ago and I can't say enough good things about the place... Also, what kind of Sunday brunch do they have at China 46? I've never had Chinese brunch before

Could someone be kind enough to tell me--what is the price point on this place? I'm thinking it would be good for next date night with husb.... Thanks! Lala
  4. Has anyone tried this place? It's in Elmwood Park and some of the best Polish food I've ever had. Actually I had the Russian pierogies the other night and my husband had what was called the Warsaw plate with a mix of different pierogies and stuffed cabbage, etc. It was all so good, I can't believe I couldn't find it on eGullet! The menu was a little weird though, now that I come to think of it. They also offered a cheeseburger and pasta with vodka sauce...But don't let that turn you off. The Polish stuff was good!
  5. Tried Rocca for the second time tonight and it was great...My husband had the shrimp spiedini, and though it wasn't what he expected, we both loved it--it was seasoned quite well tonight (and I'm a total salt/seasoning-seeker, Goodeater) and I really enjoyed the sage polenta. It was a nice combo with the grilled flavor of the shrimp. I had the fennel orange salad which was quite refreshing, then we split the spaghetti with sausage bolognese for a mid-course--maybe the best bolognese I've had outside my mother-in-law's kitchen . For entrees, I had the grilled veal with a great risotto and he had the filet again, which was done perfectly. No room for dessert, but we took home an order of their homemade truffles which I will probably be snacking on in an hour or 2 .
